CL56 sound issue: no sound, all drivers installed.

Hey guys,

Got a problem... I reformatted my CL56 after I got my new 2200 wireless card in, got all the drivers in, and I don't have sound now. Nothing from the speakers, nor the headphone jack. It's not muted, volume on full. Checked that I head the speakers plugged back into the motherboard... even that is done.

Any ideas? New drivers maybe? Nothing in the device manager with the exclamation mark, it all looks good but just no sound. And Doom 3 without sound sucks!

does your device show up in the sound settings in control panel?

make sure the preferred output device is not a modem or anything.

Yep, shows up in Control Panel as Realtek AC97. I'll check the modem thing though... maybe it switched to it somehow when I installed the modem drivers.

I remembered that when I plug my headphones in, I'd usually get some static... But when I do it now, no static. I get it when I plug into the microphone jack, but not the headphone jack, and of course, no sound from the speakers.
