Awesome, looks like I may be getting this laptop, I think Ill wait untill people start getting them and some good reveiws start coming out. I was almost ready to buy another Dell 8600 untill I saw this one. A lot cheaper and it looks better too IMO, HOPEFULLY the screen wont have any issues like my 8600 did.

I am not a big gamer.

Will I notice any difference between the WSXGA and the WUXGA?

Also, would you reccomend any more than the 1 year warranty?

Why not. There are about 5-6 different parts of the chasis I think and each part would cost about 100. It makes sense to me.

well it specifically says "back cover" on the PCT config page, but yeah the could probably paint just the lid for 100 bucks nvm.

but really, who cares either way lol. man, we argue over some dumb s**t

I like the idea.

wow, thanks almondjoy. thats one nice looking laptop. i think i'm gonna order me one pretty soon. ***excited***

only thing i can't decide about is that battery....
yeah i scratched my head a little bit too on the battery. i just couldnt stand having such a weird looking notebook. i mean, the feet are already unsightly, i just couldnt stand a huge battery sticking out the back (and the bottom) too. once i decide that the machine functions near perfectly, i think im gonna file off the feet. what were they thinking! here is a nice 3d view of the 3790 from sager website
http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/n...Type=3790#3790

one more thing thoguh, since even the sager website has the 3790 available for order, does that mean they are already shipping, as opposed to the mid-august estimation? the sager offical website doesnt say anything about having to wait for the 3790 to "Release"

wow, looking at the pictures on the sager site, the keyboard is even more messed up than i expected. not only is Ctrl not the first key from the left on the bottom row, it's not even the second key from the left on the bottom row. it goes 1) Fn 2) Windows 3) Ctrl.

hm...

Dexfile,
I am not a big gamer either. The resolution will depend greatly on what you will be using the machine for. I will be doing a ton of high resolution photoshop work (around 4096sq or 2048sq resolution) and some film resolution (2048x1556) renders as well. If you need your screen to output as much detail as you can get then I would go for the WUXGA for $90 more. If you don't than save yourself some cash and maybe some battery life by going WSXGA.

I am also going to shell out the $110 for the 3 year warranty. I highly recommend some coverage for a mobile unit. My 2 year warranty was a blessing for my DESKTOP Sony Vaio Pen Tablet. My Sony went bad 4 days before my contract expired.... A black line appeared on my LCD screen. After 2 months of battle, I got fully reimbursed for the machine. Now the refund money is going towards my new NP3790. If a non-traveling desktop unit can breakdown, I know a laptop will get some punishment.

GoodLuck

Thanks for the link... It gets me one step closer to my purchasing decision.

regarding the feet and the battery...
as the user... ur most likely not going to see either of them when sitting in front of the machine!!! don't understand wut's so annoying about either, unless u really care about what people around you think

i suppose it is a bit of a problem if u like using it on ur lap or stomach alot... but for someone with washboard abs like myself (hehe), the feet will stand perfectly on my stomach allowing good airflow (if i choose to use lappy that way)

edit: i wish i can have the machine sooner... so i can help dispell any uncomfortableness people have with the machine, but on the other hand, it may turn out that i don't like it as well...
I second that and say that neither the 12 cell battery nor the feet bother me. I'm curious if this is simply an aesthetic issue or an actual hindrance to your work flow? I'm not floored by the looks of the np3790 but I don't think it's all that badly designed. It's too bad that every notebook can't be designed to look like a powerbook. I do like the looks of the Asus W1N, and wish it had the right graphics card. But on the priority list...function beats beauty. And I could keep playing the waiting game till absolute beauty meets optimium function but productivity calls and that pays the bills. And it pays for that perfect notebook down the road as well.

Happy Hunting!

i got mine!

i mean, i ordered it... with the 12 cell. I'll be sure to post a review when i get it.
hey well it looks like there's no screws holdin the battery in for easy swaps if needed. plus, I think the design holds more of a "high end" type look to it. looks pretty dern good to moi. It just looks more in the range of a Mercedes or Jaguar to me
post #79 of 126
filing off the feet (i was thinking of doing the same thing) or using it in your lap might not be a good idea. it would block the cpu and video card vents which seems bad since there is only one other vent on the laptop that I can see (in the back left corner). hopefully we'll find out from the early adopters.

Gentlemen, Ladies . . . .
I humbly request, in order to save face with the great, eagle-eyed one (aka- G-Omaha), that further posts regarding the 3790 be placed on this thread: http://notebookforums.com/showthread...3&page=1&pp=15

Please see original posts in this thread for explanation.
Much thanks!!
