City of Heroes ATI Drivers

City of heroes keep complaing about the Video Drivers when i enter the game... it ran fine but i was curiouse as to what would happen if i installed a new driver. so i downloaded Omega Drivers 4.5 and now i see all kinds of colors on the road and building and has locked up for the very first time.
should i try 4.7 even though there has been issues with that driver and playing videos or go back to the drives that didnt have the problem or are there any other drivers that are suggested?

thanks for the input

COH seems to have problems if you have any kind of 3rd party refresh rate program, or tweak tool installed. I have not had any problems whatsoever (cept it being a tad slow) I use the omega 2.5.58 revision. I might try the new 4.8 Omegas later and see how they work. My problem with CoH is the occasional like stutter/jump behavior - combined with sorta low fps. I run it at 11-- by 8-- resolution, one notch below 1280x1024. I turned Aniso to app default, turned off AA, and set texture settings to quality. In game I have everything at High/100%. Not sure, maybe thinking I need to just go all out with 1600x1200 and ditch the other settings. Hope this helps.

Same thing here vchewjr. From what I've read on this forum (and CoH's forums) it's a VERY common problem. Even with Desktops running an ATI card. To put your mind at ease, here's the scoop:

I have a Sager (well Hypersonic GX7) 8790 and I was experiencing CONSTANT lockups in CoH and Call of Duty when using the "official" drivers. I thought it was most likely a heat issue, but even with the fans on full blast it kept doing it. So I decided to try the Omega drivers (at the suggestion of many users on here). BOOM. Lockups gone. Call of Duty is flawless.....played for hours on multiplayer with not one problem. Then I fired up CoH. 1st thing I noticed....substantial framerate hit. I turned the details down and got things a little more under control, but then I noticed all the flickering buildings and strange textures popping up on roofs and roads. It's not the end of the world, but it is very annoying. Anyhow.....it DID stop the lockups.

On my desktop I have a Radeon x800 XT....the mac daddy video for ATI users, and guess what? I still get the crazy flickering buildings. Turns out it's a known "problem" with ATI's last driver update and should be corrected next release (which should be out ANY time because the beta version is available for all the DOOM fans).

So that's great news for my desktop, but what are we supposed to do about our Sagers? Here's what I'm gonna do. As soon as ATI "officially" releases the new Catalyst drivers, I'll download that and use the driver mod utility (http://www.driverheaven.net/) to MAKE it install on my Sager.

I just don't have the time or patience for Sager to stay a full two driver sets behind ATI's official releases. That just makes crazy problems for gamers.
