SP2 screws up Dell Bluetooth!

So I installed the new SP2 final, and it's working really well except for Bluetooth. At first it was just a stack error every time my system started up, so I uninstalled the Dell drivers and reinstalled them. Now it just says I need to press FN+F2 to enable Bluetooth everytime I right click and enable the icon. I can't get bluetooth on SP2 to work at all. SP2 installed other Bluetooth things which I think messes with the current Dell drivers.

Anyone else got a comment?

I was under the impression that you could drop the Dell bluetooth drivers since they are only needed for an OS that doesn't include native support of bluetooth. XP SP2 supports bluetooth.

Maybe it does, but I can't find a way to enable bluetooth. i.e. I have no idea how to make the blue light come on.

Note: this is for the Bluetake (BT500) or Thermaltake bluetooth mice. This may or may not work with other brands of bluetooth mice.

If you previously had a bluetooth mouse installed, uninstalled it - preferably before installing SP2.

Put the BT mouse install CD in the CD drive. If you have AUTORUN set on the CD drive disable it or exit the install setup as soon as it appears. Then use these instructions.

Between steps 5 and 6, click on the Next button as soon as the mouse enters pairing mode. Sometimes the mouse will terminate pairing mode before the PC can find it.

Good Luck.

What I will probably do before I install SP2 is:

uninstall the BT mouse
uninstall the BT adapter in the Device Manager
physically remove the BT adapter from the laptop
connect my USB mouse
reboot
install SP2
shutdown
install the BT adapter
reboot
(I may then reinstall the BT A03 driver and flash - I haven't decided on this yet)
reinstall the BT mouse as I posted here previously.

I think what we're taking about here is putting the WIDCOMM bluetooth stack back on top after installing SP2. That's why I may very well reinstall the Dell BT A03 before instaling the mouse.

well, i and someone else had a hell of a time with bluetooth reiver some months ago. Typically right when i was finishing papers for my first year in "master" studies iu think you call it, or maybe major. whatever, its the final 2 year course after 4 years at university.

The problem was the drivers, that also included a firmware update..
what was dell thinking.. if u install them once, then decide to do a format u also flash the bt card again..

for some reason i cant find that one again on dell sites, but if you search this site and http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfor...essage.id=1414

ull find something.

i know when sp2 comes in my language ill do a clean install, and wait with the dell drivers

Well this is interesting. The drivers I'm using are the latest from Dell's site, but are only A02. There's an A03 floating around somewhere, but where are they??

I have no ideas. Sorry!. But I will need Bluetooth to work when I install SP2. I connect using my mobile quite often :-(

ao3 is probably the one that cause me 5-7 hours combined of work to get bt working again...the one with flash included... stay away...

dell couldnt help me, or didnt believe me when i installed it when it came out..and now its off their sites..i wonder why

I uninstalled the dell bluetooth software package before installing SP2, which uninstalled the drivers. Once I installed SP2, Windows seems to now be handling all bluetooth correctly...my Logitech MX900 is working after adding it as a device again.

A05 was the release that contained the firmware upgrade. A03 is on my Dell Driver CD. A05 and A03 worked fine for me with my MX900. A02 could not establish a working connection. I'm using XP SP2 RC2 and it's BT support has been working great for me.

How did you enable bluetooth using the Windows SP2 drivers? It can't find my bluetooth card, although the card is installed...
All of my BT driver testing was done with clean installs of XP. SP2 picked it up automatically but keep in mind I had no prior BT driver installations. I wish I could help you more.

Can someone just tell me how you ENABLE Bluetooth? I mean before you would right click on the tray icon and click ENABLE. Now what do you do? I can't find any way to actually enable the damn thing.

At least I am glad that I am not alone to have the same problem. I have installed the Windows XP SP2 last nite and then I started having problem to enable the bluetooth. It keeps asking me to press FN + F2 key. From that time on, I never see the blue light anymore. PLEASE HELP!!! How to enable bluetooth in different way?

I will receive my new 8600 very very soon, and I was going to format, load XP Pro and install SP2. I have the bluetooth module, so should I just reload and install SP2? Will that install the right drivers and make it work, and not install the Dell driver? Thanks. Just want to get it right.
