Why does STANDBY Mode go away when Power plugged in

Hi guys

Just hard a wierd experience. I closed my lid and my lapi went into standby. Then I unplugged the thing goes a thunderstorm was coming up.
After that I plugged the power back in while still in standby and guess what happend. The dimming light that shows standby wnet away completely and standby was gone when I opened the lid again. I had to press power and then the lapi booted in normal mode.
So what the hell is wrong here, this can't be normal right?

PS: Btw this always happens when I plug in the power cord when in standby even if I was running on battery before.

What are your setting under POWER OPTIONS in the control panel?

Check and see. It may be as simple as making a change there.

anyone have a problem getting their computer to go into standby? I have it set to go after 1 hr of inactivity in speedswitch (which sets it in xp's power management) but it stays on. The only way I get it to standby is by closing the lid or pressing the power button.

Also, anyone know how to get the power led to do a slow pulse rather than the faster on off it currently does? I don't know what caused it to change. I updated the BIOS to no avail...

I have PORTABLE set in Power options and that should be the right one.

Doesn't anyone else have this problem cause it is really annoying for example if you wanna dock with the AP

Try changing the setting under power option to something else.

Sorry but this doesn't make any sense cause the laptop is in standby when the problem occurs and btw I wanna use PORTABLE as that one is the correct setting for a laptop.

Maybe someone could try this out and see if it happens with his/her lapi too.
