I want to get the cl56 with a black paint job. and both hypersonic and velocitymicro are priced practically the same. Does anyone noe if one company does a better paint job then the other? aslo are there any disadvatanges of getting the sustem painted?

Frankly, the lack of information on the Velocity Micro website would make me more than a little nervous about buying a system from them. Their warranty info doesn't mention shipping or a dead pixel policy. In fact, it doesn't really say much of anything other than that they are the sole arbitrators of what is and isn't covered under their policies.

If I were you, I'd definitely give them a call and ask them about things like a dead-pixel policy (how many dead pixels before the LCD becomes eligible for replacement under the warranty?), shipping under warranty (will Velocity pay for shipping both ways? Will they ship ground or air?), and paint (how many layers of color? do they apply clear coat on top? If so, how many coats?). They should apply at least 3 layers combined for both aesthetic and protective value.

i'd go with hypersonic....they are known for good support and pretty good paint jobs. cant go wrong there, and their dead pixel policy is to die for.

Do you have to purchase no dead pixel policy or if u see it when u first turn it on can u send it back?
Hypersonic doesn't know what their policy is. They say one thing and do another.

djdk,
would you care to back that statement up, or should we just assume you're trolling (that is, talking out of your ass intentionally in the hopes of stirring up a flame war)?

I think both companies are good. I ordered the Cl56 with the black paint job from velocity. The paint job is awesome and is holding up pretty well, even by the latch it doesnt chip or seem worn out. Very glossy. Its a decent company if you go with VM. I had no problems with my notebook and it was configured very well with all the windows updates. They dont have a no dead pixel policy but I didnt get any. The only disadvantage to the paint job is it picks up a lot of finger prints. It only took 3 weeks for my notebook. Only bad thing for you if you go with hypersonic is you'd have to pax tax since they are in ny ork state.

He's trolling, Hypersonic is a great company, just wish they were bigger and got newer parts quicker.

I agree with Chez. Hypersonic backed up everything they told me including free overnight shipping- due to late estimated shipping date

VM worked wonders for me.

Thanks guys...but i think out of convienience ima order from Velocity micro since i dont have to pay taxes

relax, both are actually quite good to order from, as long as you ARE getting a paintjob.
Not getting a paintjob from these places gets you a plain CL56 or whatever chassis laptop with their name stuck on it. You would be better off buiding your own or going for a cheaper place.

Actually, I'm a Hypersonic owner. They are pretty frustrating to deal with in my experience. I'm glad so many people have had great luck with them. Unfortunately, I haven't yet.

And for the record Spooky, I'd say that your comments were much more inflamatory than anything I said.

relax its normal for people to get their panties in a bunch when you insult their laptop manufacturer..... hahah that looks a lot stupider typed out.
