well it doesn't go into standby , i'll download the lastest drivers and do a full reinstall tomorrow (hello mr recovery disc meet mr bin), luckly i have a XP home disc from my other pc.
also AW couldn't be bothered to change locale and keyboard to UK.
oh well small problems, should be easy to sort out, standby issue must be a driver problem.

well reinstalled and patched (autopatcherxp) and latest drivers (log into alienware and they have old drivers yet they have newer drivers on their ftp site.
i got some of the drivers directly from sis via their chipset autodetect page.

and standby works fine now
