Standby Light

You know how when you put an 8600 into standby the power light pulses on off slowly? Well, mine doesn't do that anymore. It used to, but now it flashes rather quickly in standby. I want it back the old way. I don't recall when the problem originated but I do know at one time I updated the BIOS to A09. I believe 08 came with the computer so I just put that back on but it did not fix the problem. I also deleted and reinstalled the power button option in device manager as I read to do in a Dell fourm. Do you guys have any idea how I can get it back to normal? Thanks

If standby works, then don't worry about it.

To make matters worse, sometimes it doesn't go into standby which really pisses me off when I expect it to. Anything I can do atleast to make sure it goes into standby, with the light thing secondary?

Try going into Control Panel to adjust what happens when you do what (push power button, close lid, etc). If you've already done that, sometimes reinstalling the video drivers may help. I dunno if they'll help in this case, though.

If anyone else has this problem, perhaps disabling your mouse from waking the computer from standby will fix it. It was the culprit in my case. Stupid computers...
