Acer 2025 + SP2 = Death of wireless!

I am using an Acer Aspire 2025WLMi notebook, with an
Intel 2200BG wireless network connection.

Before SP2:
I shut the lid on my laptop, it goes into standby, I open it, it comes out of standby, and my wireless comes right up flawlessly. Never had one problem.

After SP2:
I shut the lid on my laptop, it goes into standby, I open it, it comes out of standby, and......no wireless!! I went into system properties and tried to go into device manager, and where device manager was, Windows Updates are!!! Turns out they moved the button for Device Manager up one level...anyway, in Device manager there's a yellow exclamation point next to my wireless card, and it reads something like "this hardware has told Windows it has a problem, so windows killed it." Error code 43. I can disable, and re-enable my wireless, and it works fine. Why the hell would SP2 suddenly not like my
wireless, from just going into and coming out of standby?
My laptop has a "wireless on/wireless off" button...when I shut the lid on the laptop the light for this button goes off, indicating that wireless is off. When I open it, the light comes back on, saying it's on...but then SP2 just apparently hates my wireless card. (or me)

I use Intel's PROset to manage my wireless, which SP2 sure isn't happy about, since Windows wants to be in constant control...

Is this some kind of incompatibility with SP2, or did Microsoft screw up again? Neither would surprise me in the least...

I have uninstalled SP2 and now it works fine again...geez...

Any clues/hints/suggestions would be great!
Thanks,
Charles

Good thing I didn't get SP2 yet. I'm going to wait it out and have them fix all the bugs first.

Anyone else? I think I'm going to reinstall SP2 and see if I can get the wireless to properly function with the Acer provided drivers instead of the ones downloaded off of Intel's site...
I'll keep everyone updated!

SP2 isn't final yet... so...

keep us updated, so we can have (or not) the same problem... I plan to install sp2 soon, specially when i get my next computer

SP2 is final! I downloaded it directly from the Microsoft site yesterday, and installed it.

Thus far, it's enabled a firewall (quick inconvenience to unblock various apps, but it's a nonissue to me), and the wireless tools seem nice -- I've uninstalled ProSet to see if the XP tools work better.

Time will tell whether it'll slow the spread of nasty worms and such.

Its supposed to be final, but just like everyone on every site you visit is saying. "Wait a little while, because 'done' in Microsoft speak means nearly there." I'm sure this among other problems will arise because Microsoft is crap and they only fix problems after the fact. Just because they say its final doesn't mean you should install it.

If you don't want to deal with the problems you'll need to wait a bit.

Try adding the following registry key (not value, a key):

Parent key: HKLM | System | CurrentControlSet | Control | GraphicsDriver
New key: LidCloseSetPower

From what I could find, everything about LidCloseSetPower is for monitor issues, not wireless...

Ok, using the provided Acer drivers did not work either. Another interesting thing---Although SP2 recognized my Bluetooth device...when I hit the button to turn the bluetooth device on, (blue button on the front of the notebook) my screen said "No Bluetooth Devices" or "No Bluetooth Detected"...something like that. Uninstalled it again and now everything works fine.

Why microsoft had to make an update that breaks stuff is beyond me. *rolleyes*

had exactly the same problem (wireless does not come back after closing the lid error code 43) with my aspire 2025 and sp2. Also noticed a very erratic touchpad motion after sp2. could not uninstall sp2 but used system restore to go back to configuration before sp2.
Did you experience any problems with the touchpad or is my touchpad defective (after removing sp2 I still occasionally experience erratic movement of the mouse cursor despite adjustments with sensitivity and palm check.

Disbale the "Zero Configuration Service" and install the wifi tool that came with the lappy or the card and you're problem is fixed.

I went through it a few days ago.

Drivers are incompatible with the SP2 version of the "Zero Configuration Service".

i had similar problem once. wireless... standby... comes back from standby and wireless doesn't stay on.

I have the same wireless card, doesnt happen for me with SP2 installed.

Same Problem with my 2025...i disabled the Zero Config Service and am using Intel Proset, but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. Did NOT have this problem with SP1....damn microsoft.

Please post if anyone learns a workaround or a fix. Thanks!

Sorry, I should have put like SP2 isn't "final" yet, so...

In fact, I knew that is was final (as stated by MS), I downloaded it ("I plan to install sp2 soon"), but didn't installed yet, when I read about all the problems...
