well, I have heard of this before and I'd have to say that if Ogre were given the chance to rip a duck's head off from horseback, he definitely would. that's all we need to say about that ...

teeheehee...somebody should report this in the funny pictures thread. take the redneck special forces picture and put some decapitated ducks in it.

There's 2 more things I'd like to try as well to see how much life I can squeeze out of this puppy:

- The Hitachi 7K60 has a low power mode as well, IIRC. Gotta figure out how to activate it.

- the wi-fi card has a power saving mode. If you're surfing wireless, that could make a big dif.

Personally, I'm just waiting for the 35W 3400+ to come out next year... I'm hoping that'll double battery life easily.

I was just looking around a bit on AMD's website, and I had another thought about this. Why bother with a 35W processor? Whats the point? I can underclock the existing 62W 3200+ to 1.8Ghz, the same speed as the 2800+, the current top of the line 35W model. This will only use 33.7W, less than the low power mobile. This also gives me the 1MByte cache instead of the 512K cache of the low power mobiles. On top of that, we know it is supposed to work in this laptop. This gives you the ability to push the system to get the full power of the chip at 2Ghz, when you have a power source and need the extra speed. Or, you can underclock it and get a longer battery life. I also believe that this would push the power requirements down low enough that it should be able to run off the airline 75W power sources.

Unfortunately, AMD doesn't have the power specs on the 3400+ mobile 65W processor up yet, but I would expect that these would likely offer better performance to power ratio than the 3200+ mobile 65W.

Obviously, this is all speculation based on the tech specs of the AMD processor and the Clevo D470k. I make no guarantees that it will work as I suggest, as I have't tested it myself.

Does the Sager 4750 have Mobile Athlon64's, or DTR Athlon64's? Sager's website only mentions DTR in the specs.
http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/n...oductType=4750
I realize that both are compatible, but if you buy one from say PCTorque, would your processor be DTR? It doesn't specify on that site either.
yes it would be DTR, because the highest 35/62w "mobile" is a 3200 AFAIK, but since sager/PCT offers a 3400, its prolly all DTR CPUs.
While I still have no idea whether or not the CPU is DTR, AMD does have a 3400+ Mobile. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_10220_10221^10269,00.html
Although the 3700+ is still only availible DTR.

so despite the fact that a mobile 3400+ exists, the 4750 still uses DTR?!?!

Give it some time and I think we'll be seing some more options for processors in the 4750. I'm just gonna wait until a nice, powerful mobile chip (3700 maybe) gets to less than $200 and switch it out with my 3400.

Corsair DOES make cl2 ddr400. Just for some reason they don't want to tell anybody about it. I've only been able to find two resellers through pricewatch: spartantech and pc progress. Here are the links:
http://www.pcprogress.com/product.as...SD512%2D3200LL and
http://www.spartantech.com/product.a...SD512%2D3200LL

It's actual Corsair XMS laptop memory, which seems weird, because there's nothing about it on their website (last I looked). Only reason I went looking for it is because Voodoo or Sonic Aviator or someone was talking about having it in their systems. I thought they were talking out of their and went looking for the memory that supposedly didn't exist. Then actually found it. Timings are listed at 2-5-3-3-6.

btw, first day on the board. Seems really cool here. I've been saving up for a month now for a 4750 so I can get some 3dsMAX done while on break at work. I'm terrible at saving money, so there'll probably be something way cooler out by the time I've got my swimming pool full of cash ready (probably late October), but we'll see...

If i understood the listed timings on spartantech and Corsair, the ddr400 is rated at 2.5-3-2-6, while the ddr333 sodimm is rated at 2-3-2-6. still, this is way better than any other ddr400/333 sodimms that i've seen on newegg so far.

Its on the corsair website. Its on the XMS memory page, not with the other laptop memory.
