HEY HEY, got a new order placed, and boy am I glad that first one got kicked!!

Order Detail

Qty Part # Description
--- -------- ---------------------------------------------
1 320-4058 ATI Mobility Radeon 9800,256MBGraphics Card, for Inspiron XPS, Customer Kit

seems they had a much easier time finding it with the 320-4058 part number. Also, I called DSP, who bounced me to the peripherals group, who bounced me back to DSP, where I got someone who at least foudn the part, but noted it was not available in their system, so after contacting Michael and making sure he knew what I was looking for, bounced me back to the Accessories/peripherals group. So it's been a fun time bouncing around Dell for sure haha

Alright this is getting more and more confusing.

My second order was set to ship today (I expected it to be cancelled as my first order with same Product ID# was on the 9th), but not only was it cancelled, but they placed an order for the following in exchange.

Card,Graphics,ATI TechnologiesInc,M11,128MB,9100 ($229)

I'm going to call tomarrow to cancel this order, but I really wish Dell would clarify what the procedure for this card is. If they have arranged for exclusive sales for the first month, it is a bad business practice to not let your customers know how to go about ordering their "exclusive" product.

Anyways, just an update on my situation.

I had had an estimated date of the 23rd, so this is VERY nice!

THANK YOU ROGUEONE ! ! !

I called Mike Lambert 800.274.0696 x4473 from your post and he was the first person that actually knew what I was talking about ! ! !

He placed the order with the real part number instead of the c7070# that keeps getting canceled. and assured me that this order will not be canceled. estimated ship date is 8/17. $300 even, ask for free ship & Mike will do it.

Thanks Again ROGUEONE for posting that info ! ! !

Regards,
XPS Freak

Just called and talked to Mike and he said as of 5:30 pm today they shut that sku number off? He said they can't take any orders on this until he finds out why they shut the part number off. This is really starting to get me irritated Dell.

I think we're catching them with their pants down on this issue maybe they didn't realize how much we'd all want this upgrade when they started this whole thing hehe

I know someone that is going to get this card for me, but I have to make it worth his while. It will be $450.00 but my first order was $430 with tax and shipping. Whats an extra $20? I am tired of dell screwing around.

awesome nomad!!

I'm on pins and needles for the next 24 hours waiting to see if my 9800 order makes it out of preproduction

Preproduction and 'boxing' took the longest for me. So when you are at the boxing stage, you might not want to look for 2 days or so...but when its 'in transit' you should have it within 2-3 days afterward.

Good luck!

Looks like I'll be the first one to do the card swapping.

I had to buy a whole 9100 around the card to get mine.

My MR9800 order moved from pre-production to production today. Doesn't mean anything, but I thought I would bore you with the news anyway. It should ship tomorrow. If this falls through I am going to just get one from my inside source. Much more expensive and no warranty, but at least I will have it.

Your fingers may have saved my life !!! (well, that sound pretty weird ...)

Anyway : my order moved to "In Transit" this morning, yey !!!! Hopefully this stage won't be as painful as "Boxing". If I'm lucky enough, I'm getting my XPS this week ... can't believe it.

The waiting was painful, but another fact that depressed me is that I have a Far Cry and a Doom 3 box sitting in plain sight all day long, waiting a computer to be played with. Maybe I'm way too masochistic.

Can't wait to post my MR9800 review here ...

I don't know. If anything you love yourself too much. After all you are treating yourself to a monster computer and killer games.
