So what kind of a mouse is everyone using?

Thread Starter
I'm using Microsoft's Intellimouse Optical mouse. It's a nice design, and it has five buttons. I'm not entirely satisfied with it, however. I realized it wasn't very smooth after I used the LOGITECH B69 CORDED OPTICAL MOUSE (I copy + pasted, sue me). That mouse from Logitech is smooth, it must have a higher resolution (DPI). I'd like to get a Razer Boomslang mouse. DPI resolution on one of those is 2000!

Their site seems to be old, but I can buy a Boomslang from somebody off of ebay. I'd like to talk to someone that uses the boomslang, and therefore find out via word of mouth if it's really that good a mouse.

Another question: Does it really matter what you use for a mouse pad?

I'm using the cheapest logitech optical mouse made. I don't know the exact product name but it is a really nice mouse. I didn't know computer mice had a resolution. Could you explain exactly what the resolution is and why it matters in a mouse. DPI is 2000...why does DPI matter? ohh...I'm so confused...

The Belkin Nostromo n30 gaming mouse (equally great for non-gaming apps) with Immersion Touchsense technology.

logitech mx700 here, god I love the thing in all of its wireless goodness. I'll probably get a mx500 when I get a lappy.

mx500 Its the best corded mouse for gaming. I was using a intelimous 3.0, but it doesn't compare to this. Boomslangs are old and they don't use optical. You can get a mx500 for $34 on amazon right now and then there is a $5 mail in rebate as well.

This is the cheapest price I have found. It also has free shipping.

I'm using Logitech MX300, it's using the same technology as MX500, but in the smaller package.... MX500 is too big for me.

If your interested in a BoomSlang Mouse,

There suposed to be comming out with a Razer 2500

I have one of the original 2000's and always thought it was extremely smooth.

I use a Microsoft Inti Explorer.

I do have a Wacom Intuos 2 Tablet, but it is kind of large (9"X12"). It is about as smooth as you can get... You wouldn't believe the difference. Wish I had a larger desk area with some good gadgets to hold things so I can use it as my mouse. Hmm....

Maybe I have a new home project?

i use the Logitech Trackman Wheel Optical. when i first got the 8887 i had to relegate myself to trackball mouse, due to lack of available surface area for a regular mouse(although mouse of preference) when i find myself at the random internet cafe. what i really want is a portable pen tablet that rests nicely on top of the keyboard without disturbing the keys...

i first purchased the Microsoft Trackball Explorer but returned it a week later for the logitech. the MS mouse is a thing beauty is and the ball movement is smooth as silk(unlike my current logitech which is semi-sticky), but drawing with it was unnerving, having to use my right three fingers to navigate the ball was not good for illustrating.

I use the PocketMouse from Kensington. It is wireless and optical, but the best this is you put the receiver in the mouse after using! Makes it so perfect for a laptop!

I just love it, you can get it at Fry's.

Intellimouse 3.0 Optical, from PC Torque and Sager, painted to match my laptop. I like being able to sit on the sofa and use it on the fabric. Ball mouses to the dustbin!

MX700

Using the Logitech MX700 wireless. The ultimate gaming mouse. You can now get the duo wireless mouse and keyboard for like 70 bucks online.

I also use the Nostromo belkin gamepad which is a total necessity. Makes gaming fast, fun and non-burning(from the keyboard on my 5660!)

how are the 700's the best for gaming if they are wireless? unless im just not in the times here but from my experience all wireless keyboards/mice have a lag to them which always drove me nuts.

yea it would be nice with no cord to strategically (spelling) place so it doesnt get "caught up" and make the mouse difficult to pull, but no lag. the cord should be a problem on a lappy anyway.

I can't speak for wireless mice yet, but I love my wireless keyboard. It has worked great for games.. can't notice any delay at all. I also tested it and it worked 35ft. away from the computer with 5 walls in between, including an exterior wall.

What I'm surprised at is the battery life. It came with two AAAs and I'm still using those same batteries. It's been 14 months since I got it, so that's some massive battery life for something I use daily and often play games requiring constant key pressing.

I tried to buy a nice wireless optical mouse, but it hasn't worked at all yet and I don't know why. It's a "microsoft wireless optical blue" mouse I believe. I have a optical microsoft wheel mouse right now and love it, though I can't remember the model. It's a newer one, mostly white, with some grey highlights and a small red lightup spot in the back. Only two buttons plus the wheel.

However, I also have a $15 AOpen branded logitech optical mouse on my other computer and it works well too.. just doesn't fit in my hand quite as well.
