8790 wireless adapter just cut out

Turned on my 8790 today and could not detect a wireless signal. It's like the adapter, the integrated Gigabyte GN-WIAG that came with it, just came unplugged or something. There's no problem with my router. I can get on the network with my Dell Axim and its wireless adapter. Device Manager on the 8790 reports the Gigabyte adapter is working properly, but neither the G-EZlink utility nor Network Stumbler can see the signal. Anyone had this happen before? Maybe someone has a quick fix, before I start turning screws.

The only changed I've made is adding a 3-port Firewire hub in the PCMCIA slot, for which Windows XP already has a driver, so I didn't install any new software. Even with the adapter in I was on my wlan yesterday with no problems.

Try Fn+F11. This turns the card on/off in the bios, overriding any software attempts to turn it back on. See if you get signal again after that.

I have that same wireless card. I'm having problems because I'm not getting that much range out of it. Only like 15 feet at most. Do you get more with yours? Help me if you can, thanks. And yea, try the Fn+F11. That might be your problem.

How weird. I did try switching the wireless radio off and on several times using FN+F11 and the button in the control panel and it didn't work. I just tried it now and bingo.

As far as the range thing, there are threads here explaining how to switch a couple of wires on the adapter itself. Mine has excellent range; I get 15dB across the street, which is about 75 meters through plenty of obstacles.
