problem when shutting the lid?

Whenever I close the lid of my computer (without putting it into any kind of power-save mode), my desktop icons that I have on the right side of the screen are always moved to the center of the screen when I re-open the lid and the screen comes back on. Why does this happen? Is there any way to prevent it, or is it just a result of the LCD going off?

disable that crappy standby and hibernation close lid - do nothing

I set mine to do nothing, but it still switches up from a lower resolution when I open the screen.

To Microsoft: Mine is set to "Do Nothing," but shutting the lid still turns off the LCD.

To DELL-sakor1: I tried this fix, but it didn't do anything. The resolution changing was never the problem. When I open the lid again and the LCD comes back on, the resolution switches back to what I have it set on, but the icons I have on the right side of the screen still move to the middle, I guess as a result of the resolution changing. The ATI Hotkey Poller setting didn't seem to change anything there.

try the cat drivers my screeen doesnt do that

Every time I pass by this thread I have memory flashes of getting yelled at for leaving the toilet seat up.
