USB Driver Problem

Thread Starter
I just rebuilt my lappy 8790 laptop with Windows XP with SP1a.
I installed all of the drivers in their order from the manual and there is USB device that is trying to install that I can't seem to find any drivers for and XP does not have them either. I have not added any devices to my laptop and this random USB port Device Driver error seemed to appear after I enabled my 7 and 1 card reader in my bios.

Does anyone know how to fix this driver problem?

Did you try removing the USB devices in Device Manager. Then power down the laptop and bring it back up. Windows XP should reinstall all of these devices at that time. The manual sez something close to this for getting USB 2.0 devices to be recognized properly.

G thanks for the quick reply. I did tray that and it when I restarted windows it keeps asking me for a driver.
I even went as far as to install a new intel chipset for the 865PE and that did not work either.
Do you have any other things I could try?

WHen I open up my computer, I show the C (Hdd) and D (Optical). Then have the removable USB 7-in-one devices listed as F, G, H, & I. Then I have the BisonCam USB 2.0 device.

In device Manager I have the following:

Under Disk Drives:
Generic USB Storage-CFC USB Device
Generic USB Storage-MMC USB Device
Generic USB Storage-MSC USB Device
Generic USB Storage-SMC USB Device
and then my RAID-0

Under Imaging Devices
BisonCam, USB2.0

Do you have the camera listed. There were two different camera offered for the 8790 and two sets of drivers. Wonder if you used the incorrect driver for your camera?

Under disk drives I have the same as you except I added a second harddrive but our config is identical.

Under imaging devices I show the camera as camtel USB PC Camera.

Under the Universial Serial Bus controllers I show the following:
4 Intel USB Host Controllers
1 Intel USB Enhanced Host Controller
1 USB Mass storage device
5 USB Root Hub

Does the TV Tuner card show up as a USB device (the one that gets installed where the sub is)?

Can't remember as I swapped it out for the subwoofer a bot ago. It is a USB device. Does your camera work?

Unfortunately my camera works fine. Actually everything works fine except for this pesky USB problem that I can't seem to clear it out.
Thanks for all of your input so far.
