What everyone sais about Firewire being better. However, there's a small comment I'd like to make:

Firewire = IEEE 1394. But Firewire is not
iLink. Actually, iLink is always a 4-pin connector (Firewire with no bus-powered function), just as DV. So there is an actual difference.
If a computer has an iLink port, you'll have a mini 4-pin connector, always, and if it has a Firewire port, it should have a 6-pin connector like on Apple PowerBooks. However, what is complicated is that the port is not always powered even though it is a 6-pin; I remember the Sager 8890 had such a port.
9-pin Firewire? Never heard of it. Is it the new Firewire.b format?
Umm... Yeah, finally, you were right - it is
a real mess with names.
