My 1557gls the screen doesnt turn on. I have just installed everything. when I pressed the power for the first time i hear the fan and the power light comes on but the screen isnt active. I can also put cds into the slot loader and it will play it through the cdplayer but no screen is on. Help me troubleshoot through any steps that I could have missed.

I had the same problem man, Did you install the CPU yourself??
My problem was that after i put in the processor, I didn't lock it in fully with the flat screwdriver. So that was my problem, the processor wasn't in right. Try that and see if it fixes anything.

Check to see if you have video on an external monitor first off, If you do start looking at the connectors to the screen cables sounds like somthings misaligned/partially unplugged

I fixed it. It was the pc3200 ddr400 memory. Do not put corsair valueselect 512mb pc3200 in there, the mobo either didnt like it, or the stick itself was bad. In theory a pc3200 stick should be fine in a pc2700 board and will just run at a lower speed. I thought about this when I purchased, and still I had to get it. This foolish mistake cost me an additional 92 bucks (256mb pc2700 in town). Be careful about memory choices.
