5680/8888 release date at Eurocom sept/1/03 - Page 6

latest news

We make THE FUTURE all other just follow. In fact we are working very close with ATI (Great Canadian Company) on incorporating their M10GL (fully Open GL) chipset into D800P. We are directly involved for the last 15 years into developing FUTURE, not only selling it.

See our next model 19" widescreen "Dream Machine" - it's coming faster then one think.

Have a nice afternoon.

Can anyone translate these mystic words?
Hmm... 19" widescreen, huh? For me, I'm willing to carry upto the 17" widescreen laptop. Anything goes beyond that I'm prefer it to be a desktop model.
That's what I'm waiting for... I'm not going to buy 8888 or 5680, but I will wait until they come out with D470w that have a 800FSB/Dual DDR and M10P or GeForceFX 5600Ultra.

The Best?

I've been thinking, I'd rather stick with Sager because of the brand rather than worry about the next best thing out there. Sager is up there with the latest tech and after being a 5660 owner since March, I have never been happier with a laptop.

So whether it's Euro whatever or Alienware, I'm a loyal customer to Sager based on my experience thus far and need(i.e. not extremely mobile). PC torque has kicked ass and this forum is unlike anything out there.

So 19 inch, or 17 inch, useless to me. The Sager brand is more important to me.
Dude, no is arguing whether or not Sager/PcTorque is the **** or not.....I don't own a Clevo ODM yet and I even know that. The whole point of this forum and this thread is to discuss things.....this one being to find out information as it comes in anticipating what the Sager model will look like.

The only true word is from the MAN himself.

right

Yeah I see your point. I guess I'm using some of what I've been reading on the new Alienware laptop thread. There were a couple of guys there who were sayin' that they are going to get the Alienware instead Sager because of XYZ. And of course that e mail I got from the Euro peeps.

And with this Euro laptop, I'm kinda like whatever....basically I'm talking about the power of Sager's brand equity over other companies coming out with the newest **** a few weeks to a month before. I would wait to get the Sager.

And a part of me is kicking myself in the butt coz I could have waited a month to get the 5670 or even the 5680 or now, the new Alienware.

Alright, nuff said, I'm on a rant now....I'll stick to the discussion.

Man....it itches and hurt to wait. I cant purchase anything until september as Im getting it for the office. The anticipation of waiting for the latest find or breaking news helps and this forum isn't helping with the addiction.

The truth is, whoever posts here found the forum, took the time to register and like use constantly checks to see whats up....if they are going with any other OEM instead of Sager its only because the lack of dicipline to wait. At the end when they get their Alienware in the box and smell it all over the "effect" will be over when we get our Sagers and ranting about how we can do this, and how it does this........

wow being forced to wait till september by work, might be bad in 1 way but think of the bright side.. you will be assured of having the best out there available when you order most likely....

I did write a mail where Lynn from <banned url> told me they would be available in August, but someone moved/deleted the post.

edit: reseller banned from forum

It will available Aug 1 afterall. Eurocom has just updated their "Future" page. The 8888 now has a relase date of Aug 1 on both the gallery page and the detailed spec page. As you recall, the former used to read Sept 1. So that's good news for you university bound folks.

The photo as been updated too.

Also of note, the graphics card is described as 9600 FireGL. Obviuosly, this is aimed at the professionals although you gamers will observe no difference.
Dose the GL have the overclocking ability that the pro has?
GL will blow the guts out of a Pro card in the cases it matters -- ie not games. Who cares about overclocking, it's top of the line.

FireGL!!
So, Eurocom is trying to make a move. At least they are updating the webpage. That means that somebody is working out there. If their machines are as bad as their customer service then I would stay away from them. A couple of weeks ago I emailed them with a couple of questions.... no answer yet....
The overclocking aspect will be determined mostly on sager/clevo's ability to design an efficient cooling solution to the gpu:

ATI OVERDRIVEā„¢

On-chip thermal sensor enables performance to scale up dependent on notebook thermal environment.

In the past most laptops would benchmark/game just about the same if they were running identical video chips. I think this new "overdrive" feature will separate the premier gaming laptops from the average. Of course this all pertains to the 9600pro (GL as well?)
So the overdrive was endorsed by ATI??

If these are drivers/hacks I would NOT recommend it in a laptop system because the cooling can't be determined by the user without voiding your warranty(IMHO). If you overclocked the BIOS or drivers on a tower system at least you could add fans or thermal additives/whatever.

but again, it all sounds stupid to me. Overclocking the fastest video card in the world? are we never satisfied?

Yes, this is a feature specifically for the mobility 9600pro (not available on desktop chips although you have more options there ) Here's a nice description of it:

Just got off the phone with a Eurocom rep.....I needed someone to call me since I can only buy anything with a government purchase order at this District. He informed me that they do accept PO's and that the date for August is 95% accurate. He could not tell me anything about the ATI 9600 as everything on the website is pretty much what the rep's also knows .

Only other thing was they informed me of their close ties with ATI (both in Canada=neighbors) and that Clevo likes to change designs at the last minute to fix and/or add things.

EUROCOM D800P Dream Machine:

up to 4 GB DDR400 DRAMP: awesome

but only two slots

where do I get the cash to buy two 2 GB

Is the new Sager going to be the same....?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
The RAID function is available only on the 8888, not the 5680!!!!!!!! NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

You have no clue how many times I've already switched my opinion on which to buy, now I'll have to switch again

Can't wait till August!
