WTB

go to the other than sager talk forum

the fx 5600 (not ultra) scored horridly on benchmarks, I bet the regular m10 would score higher than that.
Time will tell though

I'm with you an that one...

The new mega sager is going to be launched

in July

you must have been dreaming (and I cancelled my Dell order because it was supposed to take about one month)

No, wait.... the lasted rumor is August !

August, who told you August,

The word is September

can't wait that long.... probably time to re-animate my dell order or get a dirt cheap alternative and build my own desktop.

Anyone care to guess at the added cost of 4GB of DDR400 would be?

Although not completely compareable upgrading the dell 8500 from 512MB to 2GB, 266MHZ, DDR, 2DIMM adds about $3300

Just 1 problem with that... im assuming it'll still have 2 ram slots and if so, yes maybe you can have up to 4 gigabytes of ram but that would require 2gb sticks.. and imagnine the price, just look at the price for 1gb laptop sticks now.. it's around $1000 a stick.. (im not quite sure why 1gb sticks are so much more expnsive than 512k sticks right now though, maybe they can improve manufacturing costs and bring the price down a bit)

now im imagnineing 2gb sticks will be at least that price if not more by september, that makes it about $3000 on 4 gb's ram alone(figuring 1500 for 2gb stick), even if the 8888 does have 4 slots and i doubt it, that's still around $4000 on ram alone, so while it might have capability for up to 4 gb, who could afford it and would it really be worth it in a laptop?

actually in memory terms they are pretty compareable.. the memory is pretty much the same from laptop to laptop now..

crucial has the price for dell chip as 999 for a 1gb chip too http://www.crucial.com/store/listpar...ries&submit=Go

hmm weird how sometimes the forums seem to timeshift and post a reply above the post you reply to..

512 is enough

good thing to know is that most games don't need more than 512 megs of ram. I got a gig and it helps in multi tasking, but for gaming 512 is good enough. That's what my friend at a gaming company told me.

Hereare some questions for those who watched 5660 and 5670 prices when the 5670 first came out:

When did the 5660 prices begin to fall?

Did the 5670 prices fall at all in the first couple of months?

I ask these questions because the 5670 price really hasn't changed for 2 months now... with the exception of a $50 increase in the cost of the extended warranty.

Damn
September?
Why not wait til December for the 8889 or April for the 8900 etc...
Just kidding on the dates as I have no clue when they will be out
It's a never ending game, just buy one when you need it
There's always gonna be something bigger, better and badder just around the corner

you will have to wait Intel down their processors prices, because i have notices (a most people can say same) when procesor's price come down, Sager too.

I think you guys are forgetting that this is Eurocom, EUROPE. They could have vastly different release dates for their products than here.

Or not... do we go by them usually when new products come out? how reliable is their release date with stuff for us?
Good point, since they are in Canada, not Europe (search their page) maybe they get the product released a little bit later. This means that PCtorque may have it sooner than Eurocom.

They are actually based in Ottowa, Canada, eh!

Not quite as "Euro" as they want to be, I guess. Either that or they at least have a main branch in Ottowa - don't know of any other city/country though.

Hence the website: www.eurocom.ca (that ain't california on the end!)

will be nice to have a laptop that you can actually hook up to a flatpanel with a dvi connection, if you wanted to....would be nice to see some 360 degree pictures, hopefully clevo will put some up soon, from the picture on ec's site it looks the same from front but will have to look different at back with more ports.. also wondering if the 6-in-1 card reader module will fit in the mp3 player slot or elsewhere...

the 800 mhz fsb/m10 will satsify me for quite a while.. even longer if they possibly(hopefully) have made the video card socketed...(i.e lot easier to upgrade)
Me too, I will be quite satisified for a few years... if I can wait the few years it takes for them to release things after they announce it the previous century.

What will be the major difference in software performance between the current 5670 motherboard and the new M10... with respect to the fsb speed? In other words, what will a non-gamer notice?

Actually it is the gamer who will not notice much of a performance bump. The guys doing Photoshop, DVD Authoring, Video and Sudio processing, CAD and other 3D Rendering stuff - these are the people who will benefit the most.

Gamers will see improved FPS but it wont be as obvious as people may imagine. Of course the M10 will make it possible to use detail levels that M9 peeps can only dream of...

But it wont be as apparent as the improved performance the professionals will see...

Unlike the 400-533 jump - 533 - 800 is a BIG jump and the RAM is getting faster too...

True.

On the other hand, there are times when certain milestones are reached such that the improvement curve is flat for a reletively long time (in computer terms). That's the case with HT, 800 FSB, 400 MHz RAM and a DX9 GPU. If the 7200 RPM drives come out by Sept. 1 as anticipated and included in the new model, then icing on the cake.

7200 RPM drives in notebooks should be the norm for at least a couple years. RAM speed bumps up every couple years too. Intel is said to be working on a new bus called PCI Express or something like that which will be the 800 FSB killer. It's due out in 2004 but won't see much in desktops until late in 2004, laptops thereafter, again looking at about 2 years until the next big thing. If ATI's FlexFit works, having the latest GPU for a reasonable cost should be of no concern.
