Hey, let's keep it light and fun around here. Bring your "hate" to the monsters and opponents in the video games.

Well, I can see where the posters are coming from... 2pac, have you committed to buying sonicwind's alienware or are you just committed to buying "a" laptop soon?

I honestly think he's just jerkin' sonicwind around, by holding him up to keep his options open... Unfair to sonic and to anybody else wanting the laptop..

I wish I could afford it... But I would need to sell my dekstop first...

sonic, who did you buy this laptop from?

I'm not sure if an alienware would be right for me, but this seems like a great deal. What is the battery life of this thing? What is the heat like? Can you game on your lap? I assume you most certainly cant. Also, realistically, what are its other downfalls. How are the speakers? I think people have said they are some of the best on a laptop. Also, is the paint in tip top shape?

This looks sweet, and I might seriously be interested in buying this. Seriously. So let me know if you've sold this yet.

I'm for real also (cash on hand)

How much does it weigh with the battery installed?

I would like a DVD burner is the one on board a good one or is it a basic slow model?

Battery life is about 2 hours. It doesn't seem that hot to me. It will get hot during gaming for your lap, though! But I've used in my lap for web-surfing and it is OK for me (warm). Can't see gaming in my lap anyway, I need to be sitting up, I can't relax while gaming, unless you mean something like Jeopardy, LOL. Speakers are OK, at least, compared to other laptop's I've had. The paint IS in tip top shape, EXCEPT there is a very small nick on the top, just above the Alienhead. You can see this in the pictures linked at the beginning of this forum.

I don't know the weight, you should be able to check the Alienware site or forum, it's a standard model.
The burner is a 2X DVD-RW and also supports DVD-RAM. It is a modular slot, so possibly you could purchase a newer module from Alienware, if you require something different.

So I'm assuming you haven't sold it yet? How much is shipping going to be?

The box is 32 lbs. I'll be shipping via UPS from zipcode 77057. So you can look up actual shipping costs on UPS using this information. Insurance for the full purchase price will be required, of course. Looks like ground is around $35 or less to most continental US locations.

Anouncement

MY AREA-51M IS TEMPORARILY OFF THE MARKET.

I am loaning it to a friend for a bit. Will post again when it comes back on the market. Thanks for everyone's interest.

If people still have questions, I'll try to answer them, but I don't promise to keep monitoring this thread often, until I'm ready to sell it again.

He may be upgrading the vid card in the meantime, so maybe when it comes back, it will be even cooler!

The wish has washed

We got my friends computer working, so he's not going to use my Area-51m. Please keep the offers rolling, this computer is for sale again!

OK, here's the deal. I will be putting this on Ebay soon.. I went ahead and posted my bottom price on this computer because I don't like to haggle. So if that upsets you don't contact me. I'm not going to sell this computer direct to anyone on this computer for less than $1900 plus shipping. Anyone who asks, will be given a price over that, just for asking. I think I've been fair and clear about this from the beginning. First person to ACTUALLY PAY ME $1900 plus shipping gets the notebook. I'm sure this will fetch more than $1900 on Ebay based on recent completed auctions I've seen. Rarely does anyone have one like this for sale where the screen pixels are guaranteed. So if this gets on Ebay and has bids the $1900 price will go away.

Thanks, fellow gamers!
