how to enable IMAP with outlook?

i forsee myself having to reinstall xp pro in the near future and i want my email to remain on the mac.com servers. i'm having trouble locating the setting to enable the imap protocol or the "leave messages on server" setting. any suggestions? thanks

Outlook 2002
Tools-email accounts-Add new account to add an IMAP account. If you are looking for leave messages on server, go to more settings and the advanced tab.

Is that what you need?
