cdrw/dvd drive cannot read cdrw discs anymore

I can still burn them using Nero, and they will read fine in another computer but not in the 8790 that burned them. On clicking the D: drive it shows a ''incorrect function'' error message.

Some other CD burning software I installed recently also loaded some new drivers on installation, I since uninstalled the software but maybe the drivers that came with it is what is bugging me.

I think i saw a similar problem discussed here but can't find the thread.

Any help?

Clean OS install, and problem persist

Actually, i can read cdrw, just not cd images (.bin).

Here's the weird part,

i can burn a .bin on a cdrw, then the disc will be readable on my desktop and other laptop, but not on the 8790 that burned it (Samsung SN-324F combo drive).

If i try burning the same .bin on a cdr (using both Nero and Alcohol 120% on my 8790), i get an error message at about 90% completion.

I can burn the same .bin on a cdr with my other laptop, and it will be readable on all 3 computers, 8790 included.

So, my Samsung drive can read a disc image from a cdr but cannot burn one.
And it can burn the same image on a cdrw but cannot read it.

Anyone with a SN-324F drive can confirm this behavior?

Thank you
