3dmark is more GPU and cpu. PCmark is more CPU.

And what are you comparing it to? To my Area51m?
Or my Duel xeon 2.8 4gig
Or my leet 800mhz 2gig <<< i have not yet found any game that it cannot play. (sure graphics look crap cuz crappy card but)

i have a really oced 9800 pro. i am comparing it to my area-51m. cuz its the only other computer i have. i know its not a good comparision. but it is good. cuz i only wanna compare to my two computers and of corse the desktop is faster. but what is my alternitive. a $5k laptop that still dosent get as good as scores as my desktop. so what i am saying is. i am selling my laptop cuz it is SLOW. (i cannot play my games in my fave res 1024x768 or 1280x1024) like joint operations. or warhammer dawn of war. my cinema 4d renderings are real slow. and i love the feeling of having a fast benchmark. i dont like the feeling of having a laptop that some peoples dells are faster then.

you must really not have a tweaked 51m, and you must have a ton of garbage on it because i can play the games you metnioned at resolutions at or higher than 1280x1024.

as far as comparing a desktop to a laptop, obviously a desktop is always going to be faster...

but this doesnt amke the laptop "slow"?

i have a machine with an X800 in it and it gets higher benchmarks than yours...

does this make your system "slow"?

did you read this. i realise this. and no it dosent make it slow if you have a x800. DO I OWN ONE. then its not a good comparision. why compare something other people have that you know by law of nature is faster. it will just make you fell bad. lol

EDIT: and also my a64 machine is fast enough for me. the alienware, i can notice all the slowdowns. and im usedto playing FULL ON 60FPS in wc3 all the time. and i do notice the diffrence between 17fps in joint ops to w/e my desktop gets in it. since i havent tested it. i CAN play all the games i mentianed with my AW but its just too slow for my personal taste.

Laptops atm have a heat issue where ugly towers dont.

Shame your gonna stick with amd thats gonna slow Windows down soo much.

I already used that computer with windows. IT AINT SLOW. its as fast as this alienware. but since there is no such thing as a windows benchmark. what do i care.

EDIT: i meant ONLY IN WINDOWS does it compare to the AW. in 3d proformance it exceeds it.

AMD + Windows = Bad mix.
Amd have more bsods than intel.
Requires more rebooting.
Cant leave idle for months.

Why do you think best servers/most used/bessyest. out there runn on Windows + intel?

Wow 2 weeks. Im not talking weeks maty.
All my pc/laptops stay on for about 5months before a reboot. (unless some software requires reboot)

I dont whana flame. Its just AMD cannot hack it when your talking long term staying around 80% it will bsod windows. Infact the pc im on hasnt rebooted for 7months i think.

i dont follow that route. i usually shut down my computers in fear that they get too hot. im too careful. i know i cooled them good. my a64 only gets to 39-41c when its oced and running folding. my a64 never even bsod it just shut off the computer by itself whenever i got into a game of bf1942. it used to work. but after a while once the computer got broken in it did that. and i blame that on the 1st gen mobo i have with a normal nforce3 in it. i want a non nvidia mobo

OR it could be my old year 2000 dell brand HD i used for it.

Guess if you live like that amd will kinda work. Heating issue isnt really as big as problem as what people say it is. I LIVE in a country thats 40c (celsisus) and im sure some of my rooms with 4-5pc's are at 50c.

Just i find amd starts quickyl but it slows down, down, down. If got one pc thqts 3.4 and has been at around 95-100% for a few months. And when i rdp to it still as fast as if i do it after a reboot. The amd ones just give up

DNS Round Robin,
Backup Servers,
Sql Servers,
Game Servers,
And of course The ones that are running winmx

The amd ones cannot keep up with the performance they are being asked to do.
Specilly when therfe at 100% and u rdp into them. God they cannot take load balance very well.

Yes i did read it, you are proving my point for me....

You said the 51m is "slow" because it does not get benchmarks as high as your home system with a 9800 card in it... well maybe becuase your 51m has a 9600 or 9700 in it....

how is this different than me saying your system is slow because it gets lower benchmarks scores than mine if i have a X800 compare to your 9800?

but this is exactly what YOU are doing when you compare your home machine to your 51m.

also like i said, if you cant play those games at high res, then your doing something wrong because i, and others have had no problems playing at 1280 x 1024... in fact osme of those i played at 1600x1200....

also fi you are only getting 17fps on WC3 on your 51m then there is Defintely something seriously wrong with your system.

also the human eye cant tell the difference once you get above 30-35 fps

by comparing this i ALREADY own it elimanates 1 leaving 1 i need and will use (desktop) and leave 1 (laptop) which i can sell and later on get a cheaper and more worth its price. by that i mean the alienware i got was $3092 and it isnt worth that $3092. but since its a laptop it is. but compare it to the computer i built and got 2 months b4 i got the alienware its not worth it to keep. cuz i built a fast computer that was REALLY what i needed for 1.7k

And i DO notice the changes in fps. also my wc3 gets 40fps when lots of guys and 60 when just map.

im getting in the tens of fps in joint ops with everything on high. thats right HIGH. i bought a computer and like them cuz they can display better graphics then consoles. the reason i only do things the highest quality cuz if i wanted less i would use my x-box. lol. and i do have my laptop oced. not cooled though.

WHY CANT YOU GUYS SEE THE BASIC REASON WHY I WANT TO DO THIS. BASICLY i made a bad choice by buying a laptop. i didnt need one and my needs were too high for one. i just thought it would be cool to have and "everyone" says alienware is the fastest and best laptop. so i tried it and i had my experiance. it got old and slow. no upgradeability for future expantion. and now im going back to my desktop computer which i dont even have connected now cuz we were gunna sell that to pay off my AW. now switch roles. i am keeping desktop and selling AW.

everyone understands why you dont want it...

but when you say "its slow" well thats basically a false statement. im assumng if you paid 3K for it it has at least 3.0 ghz processor and 1 GB of RAM, which is just as fast as your machine you built.

the only differnece is the video cards.

and again the 9600/9700 can play all the games you speicified at max resolutions or at least 1280x1024. maybe you have a bad card or your system is just incredbily boggled down by crappy apps.

also it is not my opinion, but a scientific fact that the human eye cant tell the difference after 30-35 fps.

crappy APS!!!!!! i just reinstalled my system and i only installed like 3 games. thats it. no fillers. 3 games virus scan (AVG) fraps. the normal stuff.

it is a scientific fact only if it is on a tv or any FMV source. if it is 3d its not a fact. the reason our eyes see no more then 35 fps is cuz the motion blur artifact in film. we dont have that in 3d games. so we see all fps to a degree.
