Acer Ferrari 3200 Impressions

I recently purchased one of these fine machines about 5 days ago, and just wanted to let everyone know how it measured up.

The very first thing that I noticed when I opened up my box was the bright red paintjob. I was so afraid to even lift it out of the box in fear of screwing it up. I opened it up and turned it on to hear a loud vrooom at startup. I started playing around with it and seeing what it could handle. I ran the highest quality games that I had, and the computer had no problem. The overall speed of this machine is just unbelievable, even with the 4200rpm HD. The screen is very bright and clear, but the viewing angles aren't the greatest. I also have no dead pixels . I connected to my wireless network about 10 seconds after startup, and connection is perfect and speedy. The computer doesn't come with much software at all, except Norton AntViris (which I don't use) and NTI CD Maker. After about 3 hours of playing around, I swapped out the hard drive for a Hitachi 60GB 7200rpm drive. After reinstalling the OS, I saw an instant increase of overall performance. I would give this laptop a 10 out of 10.

Sorry that the pictures are down, but the picture service that I used was being gay. If you know of an all free service to host, I will put the pictures back up.

EDIT: I just benched my 3200 with AquaMark 3.
Score: 26,157 [GFX: 3,171 | CPU: 7,463]

Nice review Ebonix. I still have that box at home, me like it very much.
You said that the performance went up after you put in the 60gig HD. Did you btw also installed XP on the 80gig, a fresh installation I mean? With this you have a better compare. But, enjoy your laptop, I do.

This is with normal use, I'll post a pic after heavy use. The hard drive is the only thing that gets slightly hot to me.

Ok, here's what I found...
During normal use from start-up, the hard drive elevates from the low 40's and get up to, at max, 51. The CPU hovers around 41 to 46.

During heavy use, the HD stays around the low 50's. The CPU hit the high 50's, but I never broke 60. It seems that we both run around the same temps.

my CPU hovers b/w 47-49 during normal use...
hits 65 during gaming.....hm...oh well
as long as it doesn't give me problems it should be alright

Mine is ~46-47C idle, high 50's under stress, and hit something like 62C while gaming (Tribes: Vengeance). HD is between 50-55C.

Hey Sanna, how is the 1024mb of ram working out for you? Have you noticed a big difference?
