Well I got my XPS yesterday. Wow is it kick ass. Can't believe how fast I got it. Ordered 8/18, received yesterday morning 8/24 - less than three business days but over a weekend. Cannot believe how cool and quiet it is compared to the Sager 8790. I am loving it - thanks for the help guys.

Crapola... I ordered on 8/18 and it's still in build. Estimated ship of 09/07. Wonder if there is a hold on the MR9800?

Congrats on getting yours man! (Did you order online or via the phone?)

I am very pleased that you are as happy with it as I was a couple of weeks ago.

Do the following, dont forget to update your INTEL drivers, you can get them from intel's website, if i can remember exactly where they are i will post them.

DO install SP2 for XP, though I had some hesitation at first but it made a nice improvement in the network driver dept.

Dont forget to reinstall the Dell MR9800 driver from thier website after updating to sp2, it screws it up.

Good luck kind regards!

Purolator is usualy faster then UPS in my shipping experiences... I have to ship several things via ebay trough Canada and I always go with puro.

Im also waiting for my XPS here in Quebec... Thing is I cant even see the status on the Dell webpage for some annoying unknown reason ...

Dell is teasing me though , they sent the notebook lock (the defcon lock) and I got it today, just without the notebook at the other end ...

They are playing twisted mind games with me , Im sure

Woody, I built mine online but I could not find anywhere to buy an extra AC adapter so I called Dell and talked to a salesman there who hooked me up with the extra adapter and completed my order over the phone while logged into my shopping cart. Maybe I got the last MR9800 for a while??

Also, I had mine shipped Fed Ex Standard Overnight.

Nomad, I looked on Intel's site and could not find anything. Could you please post a link for me if possible?

BTW - I have the regular 3.4 HT, not the EE.

I am brimimg with joy for you and jealousy right now, and I don't know which is stronger. Love that sweet machine all you can, and think of us 'lap-less' individuals. I feel like the last girl to get asked to dance.

You have no idea how happy I am right now. I have been suffering with a Thinkpad A21p for the last year or so (Mobile PIII 800Mhz, 256 MB RAM, 16 MB video card - ouch)....it was the shiznit about 3-1/2 years ago, but now I can barely get anything done on it. No question the build quality on that computer cannot be mached by ANYTHING today, unfortunately. That thing is solid as a rock and will serve many more years of use as an emergency backup and a better pc for my chick - right now she uses my old Gateway 8150xl.

Chill, it came from the factory with SP1. SP2 just came up by itself thru Windows Update. So far all seems to be well.....we'll see.
