8887 driver updates for memory stick reader

I was wondering if anyone knew of any newer updates for the memory stick reader on the left side of the computer (NP887) that fits SONY memory sticks into it. The name of the driver from the Device Manager menu is "winbond memory stick storage (MS) device driver" I have version 2.0.2003.114 dated 1/14/2003. It doesnt see to want to work with my 256mb Pro card though. I tried the 32mb card as well and thats works fine. But it says that it wants me to format the pro card. I was thinking it was a driver issue, but if anyone has any other adivice, that would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks a lot.

is that what that thing is? i have something that looks like it would fit a memory stick in it but it is closed, and i can't get it open... almost as if i have to install some hardware to make it work. Did you have to do any of that, or did your 8887 come with it already installed? i don't know anything about the drivers, henceforth.

It came with it already installed. It has that little SONY memory stick logo below it, which was the only thing that clued me into what it actually was.

They don't work with PRO, regardless of drivers. It's a known Sony "enhancement". Any pre-PRO readers don't read PRO. Google a bit or surf some photo forums for confirmation if you like. I just plug my DSC-V1 straight in to USB for my PRO cards.

They removed it with the 8890... the chassis stayed the same thats why the logo is still there..... i dont think you can make that functional on the 8890.... but you can use the 6 in 1 card reader instead...if you got that option....
