Funniest thing I read all day. I agree, the desktop XPS looks nice. Not nicer than an AW, but nice.
- When Craig responded to the first post and he used "Love," I thought something weird was going on.
- Don't want to add to the argument, but currently, without the X2 motherboard and Video Array I don't see the big deal besides better service. Voodoo has had video cooling systems for years now.

Did I say top of the line people?
if I did I meant top of the line PC-spending more money doesn't make you a top of the line person-
you actually have to send them the games and they install them for you?
that is kind of funny--actually very funny when you think about it
but hey they are doing it for free =)
Craig I give you credit--your are quite humble--
I member when I had no car--meet a chick-and they have to drive-or take the bus GASP
this thread got large quick--see what you do to people 51m =)

Craig, you're correct. Alienware sends you a postage paid box for you to send up to three games to the AW factory for your tech to install and configure your games for you.

I guess it's like a nice added touch-so you can get your system and just PLAY-no installing no updating etc.
I see the point of this

okay i know people are pissed of because im comparing DELL to an AW, but bottom line i wanted to know what do people on AW forum thought about this...if iwanted people to take my side i would go on dell forums....and to answer some Q im not saying the XPS is better than the ALX, but is it worth it..and dont you think the advertisment on it hypes it tooo much, and i bet the ALX people would enjoy the computers so dont start hating me just because i didnt say AW rulez, leave room for criticism, its bound to be their...and Hykster just leave the the thread, i asked people not trash talk if you got nothing to say concerning the thread just chat 5hit in another thread..thank you..and Craig your suppose to be like a moderator, whilst all this while youve been getting rude and sacastic...and someone like rictor has a response x10 better than yours

Rictor arent you being a bit too biased, i mean granted AW is a good company but by the way your writing about it , its as if all the other competitors are 5hit comparing. Although i realize this is a bad place to bad talk any AW product but AW isnt a flawless company, far from it. So dont compare a Astin Martin(ALX) vs. some beat up unrecognizble car (XPS).

Craig is only human (well, maybe a little bit alien)...and as such has opinions. Your arguments were poorly constructed, and that's all he was trying to point out. Just because he's a Mod doesn't mean he can't say what he feels.
Personally, I do not feel the current ALX is worth the money, but i would still buy an ALX long before the XPS3. The build quality, the dedicated support, the better looks (IMO), and better performance are all reasons I would buy the ALX before the XPS.

Comparing AW to BMW would only insinuate that AW is a Over priced POS and you need to spend money to look good. I'll drive our Hyundai over any Z3 carcus on the side of the road and only laugh at the money I saved.
Where was I, Oh, I know nothing about the ALX, Sorry.
And to all the Alien Love Children in the audience, you do sound like you have been whining lately because of a bad experience with AW, but that is just my opininion, and as I said, I know nothing about the ALX, nor do I own AW.
It seemed to me that this thread needed some more humor, and who better to provide it then the uneducated Hyundai drivers in the audience

i was too lazy to read everything ^^up there, but here are my 2 cents: ALX is a luxury computer. it's true; it does cost a lot. and i mean A LOT. but aw is covering the costs of all the high-end hardware used in the buidling process + all the time aw techies put into building it for those who are willing to pay.
one more thing...of ALL PLACES you came into the ALIENWARE forum bashing their computers. the aw forum is by far the most active part of notebookforums.com - there are thing which go bump in the night. we are the ones who bump back.

Being an Aleinware and a Dell owner....i have come to this conclusion..they are both good ....i would say AW support is better....but it all depends on how much $$$ you want to spend! i mean if you have it...then go ahead and spend it...ignore anyone that is telling you not to....my freind owns an ALX and it runs fantastic.....yes he can afford it and yes he did pay over 7000 dollars for it ....but what matters is that he is satisfies with his decision.....if you are happy with one particular thing than go for it.....regardless of the "better" thing luring you towards it....if you have deep pockets then go with ALX if not than go with whatever you think is better....i was able to buy 2 computers for the price of 1 ALX....and im happy with it...thats all that matters....

ALX Processors -
P4 EE@ 3.8GHz 2MB Cache
P4 @ 4.0GHz w/ 1MB Cache
95% same specs? ALX has better processors, is liquid cooled, better RAM, better build quality, better support, better sound card, will come out with X2, etc.
Just config'd an ALX and a XPS - ship date for ALX: 22 SEP. ship date for XPS: 29 SEP
Price for ALX - $5,500
Price for XPS - $4,250
Difference = $1,250
EDIT: Tried to have everything with the same specs, but the ALX has standard components that are better than the Dell's top options. So the ALX has some better components. I don't know what brand Dell uses for their RAM or CD/DVD drives.
