dude... that's like... SmartKA or Escalade? The two aren't even in the same league.

That said, 3790 every day, and twice on Sundays

Sorry, doesn't look like it. It's not quite dead yet.

fobishduck,

Congrats on the laptop!

I am very interested in seeing what you think of the surface heat after you done setting up the machine. Mainly in 3 scenarios.

1. Playing a FPS game
2. Playing music off of the hard drive
3. Doing "normal" light work, like web browsing, working in MS word, etc. Basically work where the hard drive should not be reading a lot of data.

My major and really only complaint with the 3 different Sagers I have owned/used thus far has been the heat on the wrist rest area above the hard drive. On the 4060 it was plain rediculous. Would it really kill Clevo to spend the extra $0.50 to $2.00(educated guess) for better heat shielding in this area?

I have used/owned a lot of laptops over the past 10 years and with the exception Acer 800 series none have even come close to being as hot as a Clevo on the wrist rest/keyboard area.

a quick post on the viewing angle.

being selfish in nature, my definition of "good viewing angle" is as follows:

1) sit in front of the laptop
2) lean to the left and look at the monitor.
3) likewise for the right.
4) sit straight up and look at the monitor.
5) slouch and look at the monitor.

if you have no problem with viewing the monitor from (1) to (5), the laptop has a "good viewing angle", and 3790 has a good viewing angle based on my definition.

my fujitsu did not have a good viewing angle. had problem with (4) and (5).

That's what I have been saying. Your laptop will be able to beat up other laptops. As for heat 44 C is hot? That's my idling temperature. Very comfortable temperature I think.
I would be interested in knowing how hot it can get after some benching and Dooming... but overall it sounds really good thus far.

I would like to see 2:30 - 3:00 hours on the 6-cell, then I'm sold, otherwise I will go for the 12-cell and put up with the ugly look.
so what does windows say about the battery life you have left on your laptop?
How are you testing the battery? Because if you are playing a DVD, we should see alot more up-time under normal web surfing, word proccesing conditions.
he's surfing and playing Ocean's Eleven in the background... I think.

So whatever life he gets, we can safely tack 20-50% onto
post #193 of 360
But then people usually listen to music when they web browse, and Construct will be using an Echo Indigo which will suck the battery as well

I should clarify, I'm playing my XviD copy of Ocean's Eleven. I think I'll play the actual Ocean's Eleven DVD for the second 6-cell test.
he hasn't got the Echo Indigo yet tho.
Shouldn't that take more juice cuz it has to access it from the HD?
no, it'll actually take less juice cause the optical is not spinning (takes a lot of power)

construct, is the ctrl key in the right place on the 3790 (farthest key on the bottom left?) i couldn't quite tell from your picture =/

Yes, the control key is in the very lower-left corner of the keyboard.

oh, my... the screen looks awesome... (just installed the driver).

i'm about 95% confident that i don't have a "live" dead pixel (meaning a pixel that's stuck on a color).

it's a keeper!

another question Construct
can you crank up D3 to 10x7 at high and see what kind of FPS you get?
When playing D3 I run my GPU at basically the same clocks as in the 3790 (250/450) and it should run fine at those settings. I use 1024x768 ultra quality and played through the entire game at these settings. You'll of course get slowdown when there is tons of stuff going on but that's a given. If I ever play on nightmare tho I'd probably have to lower it to 800x600 to make those flick shots w/ the shotgun a little quicker
