Keyboard Problem...

I just got to school, and have been using my 8790 off an on. We got our wireless network setup and everything was going smoothly. But today for some reason my Q,E, and T keys are not working. I tried to restart and made sure it wasnt just one program that was reading them wrong. I bought an external keyboard...but need to use my notebook one. Any help??/ THANKS ahead!

Really don't have any idea on this one. I might try turning off the machine and the (when it is totally off) opening up the keyboard (tabs neeed to be pushed back - towards rear of the machine). The tabs are located under the silver panel and the ESC, F6/F7, PrtSc, and * keys. After these tabs have been pushed back the keyboard should "pop up slightly) for each key and then eventually, you can open the keyboard (from back to front - GENTLY). Check that the plug is securly fastened (above the touchpad). Blow out the keyboard and the "tray" with canned air and then reassemble. Don't know if this will work' however, it's the only thing I can think of right now.

Let me know if it does/doesn't work.

I had the same exact problem with my 8890, the plug is probably not making full contact. As G-Omaha said, firmly plug in the ribbon and problem should go away.

I tried it, but it didnt work. I made sure the ribbon was secure, and then blew it with compressed air. Any other ideas?

I would call Sager and let them diagnose the problem, more than likely if you are within the warranty period they'll RMA it. You could have a bad key board cable that needs to be replaced.

How long of process would that take? Just curious?

My 8890 just hit the 1 yr mark at the time, so I sent it to Phillips. Phillips sent me a box within 2 days of talking with them {getting an RMA}, and the sent it back to me after having it one day. I had my laptop back within 6 working days of having sent it. Amazing turnaround time.


However. If you're still in the 1 yr warranty period, you would send it back to Sager in Calif. The expense of sending it their is on you more than likely. They may be slightly busier, but I believe they try not to hold on to the returns more than two days, and then send it back either 2 day or 3 day UPS.

Might want to see if they might even just send a keyboard and let you send the current one back. Doubt they'd go for that, but you might try, anyway.

I just got my computer back from Sager in Cali. If you are within the first 30 days of your warrenty I believe they will guarentee to ship back to you within 48 hours of receving the comp. After 30 days I believe there is a 72 hour turn around time (plus shipping of course). I sent mine back Thursday afternoon, it arrived Friday morning. I received my computer the next Wed.

Shipping expense...you usually pay to send it and they pay to send it back.

Oh and btw...................NO DEAD PIXELS ON THIS ONE! WOoOOoOHOoOOo

Sounds good, but I am trying to do anything I can not to have to send it back. It is just the 3 keys that are not working. Does anyone else have any suggestions on what to do, or has thing happend to you before?

I am trying to do everything I can before I have to send it back. Any other suggestions?
