new dell drivers for 9800 are awesome!

Thread Starter
I just received my XPS yesterday with the 256mb 9800. It is awesome. I am definately a newbie here but just want to introduce myself. I downloaded the free 3dmark03 bench program with the only configuration they let me choose. It ran a 5444 right out of the box. I just downloaded the new dell drivers and I ran the bench again and it ran a 6550

I just followed the installation instructions for the new dell drivers. I am assuming the new drivers take priority over the old ones? So when I run my games it will automatically pull the new drivers? Like I said I am a newbie. Just made the switch from macintosh.

Finally any other easy tweaks for the dell?? Any processes that I can remove from start up to improve performance? I have only run Far Cry with the old drivers and it plays pretty well at 1280 resolution and medium detail. I am hoping the new drivers allow me to play with high resolution. Anybody in here play far cry? I am having a difficult time playing it. Do you get an external mouse to play it or can you get used to the regular keypad on the laptop.
anyways great forum and I appreciate all the sweet advice. I never would have gone and gotten the new drivers.

I've been playing Far Cry on my XPS and would definitely recommend a external mouse. Good luck with the new laptop. I'm still waiting on my 9800 to show up Oh yeah, try this website for ideas on shutting down unnecessary services:

Has anybody installed new Dell video driver for 9700 yet (ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, v.8.04-040717a-017292C, A03 Release Date: 08/17/2004)? What version of Catalyst is it?

Thank you

v6.14.10.6467 is the version of catalyst 4.8! I'm surprised, Dell releases drivers on next day after ATI did! Looks like we do not need to wait Omega this time.
