Thread Starter
I'm looking at purchasing a Dell inspiron 8600 1.7ghz, 1gb ram.

Will I be o.k with running Illustrator and possibly one other app. such as Dreamweaver or Photoshop??

Thanks for your help

well, if you don't need to run on mobile battery and if you can do atleast 10 push ups, you might want to consider the 9100. The 9100's hyperthreading will come in handy with adobe applications.

re: http://www.intel.com/pressroom/kits/p4/quotes.htm

After months and months of reading and decision making, I invested in the 9100. I do a lot of photoshop work and web development and find this notebook (aka desktop replacement) to be some of the best money I've ever spent.

I only get about 90min on battery life, but I'm always near an AC outlet. If you're going to be mobile more than 50% of the time, it sounds like the 8600 is your book.

I have the 9100 and I run all the Adobe CS products (photochop, illustrator, etc.), Quark Express, and other programs and this machine is very impressive in its performance. The 8600 is a good machine if you like the portability and battery life aspect. Though the 9100 seems like an overweight pig, overall it is not too bad considering it is a desktop replacement.

Oh did I mention, the 9100 has better features and upgrades (other than battery life)

Now if my damn video card would get here... lol
