Hi,

My laptop doesn't show time remaining. Neither through the windows power management nor SpeedswitchXP.

Anyone have any ideas why this might be?

Thanks

Oh, and it's a CL56

My CL56 running Windows XP does NOT show the time remaining on the battery either. It will show a percentage, but not time remaining.

If you want to see time remaining, download batterymon from passmark. It is free for 30 days, then it is $18 or something like that. Here is a link:

Many on here use it to run tests to see how there battery is performing. Hope this helps.

the cl56 isn't fully acpi compliant..therefore it's missing the charge/discharge rate/monitor....o well...at least the percentages still work :/ that's also why there isn't a time indication for how much battery life is left

Yes, that’s true at least the percentages still work. I have a Ibm X21, it shows both the percentage and the time remaining, but strangely once it hits zero it just keeps on going, and then will just turn off, how convenient. I've taken to using my stopwatch on my watch to time it. It runs for 2 hours and then suddenly dies. I've tried everything that IBM has said to try to fix it, and personally I think that the battery is wacky. Anyways be thankful that you have SOME indication of what’s going on, I wish I did with the X21.

Edit: I have used aftermarket programs too, and they don't work.

What's the best battery monitor program out there that uses the least system resources and can be put in the taskbar?

Hi everyone! Can someone send me the "compbatt.sys" file on C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers ? My file was corrupted and all that I could find was a file from an HP... sometimes the meter just seems to be "stucked" on the same % and when I click on the icon on the taskbar it shows fine again... thank you all!
