Enable PowerNow! on 4750?

I bought my 4750 around a month ago and and love it. (What other laptops play Doom 3 on Ultra, eh?)

The only thing is, I can't figure out how to enable PowerNow! on the laptop. I have installed all the drivers (I think) but when I run the dashboard it always says 100% utilization, and there are no powernow! options in the power settings in the control panel.

Funny thing is, when I first got the lappy in my computer --> properties, the speed would drop down to 800mhz without any drivers or anything. After installing all the Sager drivers etc, doesn't do that any more...

and yes, SP1 is installed.

help?

some advice is to install SP2. You can grab the 272 mb package from Microsoft's website. I know it has some AMD64 enhancements in it and it corrects some powernow issues.

Try going to your DM, to your prosessor setting and just update the driver, do the recommended options, this may sound strange, but it will find and restore your powernow drivers again. At Least that is what I did to get running again after I lost PowerNow. I had the same symptoms as you. I how this helps.

Along the same lines here, my system info will not report higher than 1.58ghz even when I'm running a processor benchmark. But it says I have the amd 64 3000+ which is a 1.8ghz chip. Would updating the drivers help my situation?

start > control panel > power options > set it to "protable/laptop"...it may be on 'always on' right now

Thanks a bunch, that helped.. All I had to do was set it on "portable/notebook" and it worked. I was under the assumption some settings popped up when I did this, so I thought it wasn't working when it actually was.
