gaming, always gaming....
Seems to me that the most important feature of a laptop that people consider on this forum is its gaming capability.
As if this were the most important thing in the world. We're talking about GPU's that have many times more power than the most powerful CPU's from a couple of years ago.
All this produces notebooks with mobile processors and chipsets that have
only 2 hours of battery life. Absurd!!
And what's all this about having 60fps when my eye can't see more than probably 35 and most people's reflexes are much slower than that?
And LCD's refresh rates are even worse!
If I want to play Doom3 I'll do it on a desktop with a good CRT.
It's all a bunch of marketing crap to make rich geeks spend more of their parents' money.
If you're doing REAL WORK like compiling stuff or working with big databases, the bottleneck is not the GPU. It's the hard drive.
Trade off some MHz in favour of better RPM. You'll see what I mean.
Give me a SXGA+ 15" notebook with 5+ hours of battery and less than 5 pounds that actually runs cool.
Something like my Sager 4020 but with Centrino, a couple pounds less, and good battery life. And make it cost less than $1500.
I guess they should be able to build that buy now except that they don't want to.
