8887 VCD capture

When I capture to VCD the video plays totally stretched out horizontally in WMP. The properties show the file as being about 900x240 or something like that. The only way to fix it is to re-encode it to the correct size stretching the picture back to the correct aspect ration. Any idea what's going on here?

Whatever program your using should have settings for the aspect ratio to capture in. That aspect ratio is apparently 900x240 and needs to be changed.

I'm just using the Schedule part of TV Studio that came with the computer. I have it set to VCD for quality. There is no other setting.

From your description it sounds like VCD quality doesn't neccesarily mean VCD compatible. Do some reading on VCDHelp.com (same as DVDRhelp.com) and I have a feeling you might find that the codec your program is using is different from WMP. You might want to dump WMP for a better alternative. There's some very good free ones out there that are sponsored by Bill G.

I don't have Nplayer on this computer but I think it will play VCD

Have you updated your version of AverTV Studio? I am running the newest off of the AverMedia site, many capture modes...

But the properties on the file show it as being a 900 something by 240 MPEG. That has nothing to do with how WMP is seeing it. It plays with the same properties in other players as well.

I just looked on their site and the versions look the same as the one that came with my system. Besides, they seem to only be selling versions on their site.
