Can anyone recommend Averatec AV6128H1?

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I'm seriously considering the Averatec AV6128H1, with 2.8Ghz, 512Mb, 64Mb ATI 9600 and a 15.5" screen. My main concern is gaming (and writing term papers). I've never heard of Averatec so I'm wondering how good a company is, customer service, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

So far Averatec got some good reviews, the tech support is about equal to that of eMachines or HP. That system is based on the Uniwill N258KAO chasis. If you can put in just a bit more money, you can buy the same system from mwave with a 3000+ amd64 and a 128mb ati 9700 which would be a major boost for your games my friend. It will also run cooler and longer on the battery life.

Here are some other names of this lappy (with better specs) that you might wanna do research on:
ABS Mayhem G1 (P4)
ABS Mayhem G3 (AMD64)
Cyberpower Xplorer64-8000 and -9000 (AMD64)
IBuypower Battalion S-Turbo (AMD64)
MWAVE something-or-rather....(AMD64)

it is also available from other stores under the name Uniwill N258KAO...take a look.

It is a good lappy, just not the best gamer.

Your other alternatives are the eMachines 68xx which have a 64mb M10 (or 11?) card and an AMD64 cpu, and from best buy you can pick one up pretty damn cheap after all those mail-in rebates.

^Thanks for the info. I checked out the IBuypower Battalion S-Turbo--pretty awesome. But at $1500 it's a little too expensive. I can get the Averatec at Staples for $1000 with rebates. Most of the games I play aren't that graphic intensive anyway--mostly sims like Sim City (not the latest one though).
