page fault problems

so i just got my laptop, a sager 4750, started it up and ir ran fine, had restarted it and when it was booting it flashed a screen that said page fault in non paged area. it restarts it before i have a chance to read anything else, and just continues in this fashion, cant even enter safe mode. what do i have to do to fix this?

thanks,
Mark

I'd suggest swapping your memory modules, and then trying each of them one at a time. If you can get the system to boot, then it's likely that you have bad memory chips which need to be RMA'd. If switching everything around still yields the same result, try reformatting the system. If THAT doesn't work, then I'd say it's time to get in touch with Sager support about an RMA.

at what point in the boot process does it do this? its almost ceartinaly a hardware (either in RAM or BIOS) if it happens before windows is loading, and almost ceartinaly windows loosing its own pagefile (microsofts little talked about swap-from-a-file arrangement) if its after. although that you say you cant get into safe mode, which would not load a pagefile, i would (unfortunately) assume the former.

it would do it after it did the memory tests, it stopped doing it and i was able to get it running, but now it does it randomly, i tried reformatting but while doing so it gives a driver irql not less or equal stop error message. it also sometimes gives the page fault error when i try starting the recovery disk.

thanks
