9600M its here @ last - Page 3

Blasteron just listing some 9600M alternatives.

256MB in a graphics card would be a waste. Only a few games can take advantage of 128MB. By the time they do, it will be time for an upgrade.

I wouldnt mind having 256megs of ram for 60 extra bucks

will come in handy for Doom III and a lot of games that use a lot of textures. Perhaps the next generation unreal engine, ut2k3 uses more than 128 if you use ultra high res textures

there have a 256meg mobile go5600ultra so dont worry, we will get a 256meg 9600pro

Unless you plan on running doom 3 at 1600x1200 with details on 256MB of RAM will probably not be worth it considering that the M10 will probably be too slugish to run at those settings anyway. Until the mobile GPU reaches at least 9700pro or 9800pro performance the GPU will be the bottleneck before the memory. I'd wait at least another year before we see this in mobile form.

yea perhaps your right van, but still it wouldnt hurt to have the bragging rights lol

there is already a 5600ultra with 256meg of ram (desktop) thats why im speculating there be a mobile version, there's a mobile m9 that uses 128meg of ram which is almost useless in todays games yet there is one out. So thats why Im thinking there be a 256meg version of the 5600ultra ect ect

but yea like you said it probably couldnt handle the game with ultra high textures. It might handle doom III in high detail (desktop somewhat) so if the m10pro has the same specs as the desktop card it should be able to do the same thing

btw van do you know what the nonpro 9600 gets in 3dmark2001se? I cant find it no where.... perhaps 10500 im thinking which a beefed up sager could do im sure

if anyone knows the above question let me know asap

I think tom's hardware had a 9611 on 3dmark2001. But since this was not a final sample of the chip nor is this notebook currently available I'll hold my final judgement until I see full reviews of laptops or customer benchmarks/reviews. Given that my guess is that the non-pro will score from anywhere between 8500-10500 depending on the laptop and default clock settings. The pro...maybe somewhere around 9500-12000. All guesses of course so I could be way off
