Hands up those who have done the Keyboard Flex Mod

Thread Starter
Hi all.

I received my new 8600c yesterday and am very happy with it. Screen seems ok, very light leakage down the bottom, and also top left corner ... only when the windows XP start menu appears ... maybe it's the blue ... will do further checking tonight.

Anyway, back to the point, I was wondering who here has actually done the Keyboard Flex Mod from this site? Was it hard? Was it easy? Have you broken anything? Has it worked?

The left of my keyboard has the flex, and I know it needs to be done, but I really wanna get some feedback from you about how easy/hard it was.

Thanks for your help.

yes.. no problems.

It was real easy just follow the sticky and take your time. Don't try to force any parts out to quick. It made the world of differents in my keyboard.

I have the deluxe level of support, so I had Dell fix it. They started by swapping out the keyboard and palm rests -> little or no improvement. Then the tech added some tiny rubber bumpers under the left side of my keyboard -> it's all good.

I did it, but it didn't make too much difference. I think I just got a bad keyboard/chassis.

Hands up? Do you mean heads up or are you going to mug them?

(sorry, just read the dell video thread in its entirety and feel the need to lash out at someone ... anyone!)

The 8600c shouldn't really need it. A friend of mine got it and his keyboard is firmer than mine post the mod (though the mod helped immesely with mine!)

Like I have said before, its really a hit-or-miss deal. Many people have had no problems with the keyboard, but mine still has a lot of flex even after the mod.
