It depends on where you get it and what exactly you're after. For example, Newegg has an 8X DVD+-RW drive
for $156. However, it might not match / be flush with whatever notebook you may have. Plus, you might have to cannibalize the parts from your old drive, or generally just acquire them, in order to install it. Remember though, at the core all drives are the same and have the same base IDE connector. So technically speaking, you can be guaranteed it will work- it's the aesthetics you might have to worry about.
Or you can get the Dell drive that is built specifically for your computer (i.e. it iwill look and fit perfectly with no fuss) from accessories. However, it definitely costs more than the bare drive from Newegg. For example, the 4X DVD+-RW drive from Dell
