Unfortunately demand is apparently driving the price up. Up $10 to $149 from last night ... still a whale of a deal though.

Careful, I don't know about the Generic, but the Kingmax doesn't play well with our M68XX's.

I just ordered the $149 deal from Fry's. Will know how it works by Wednesday. Thanks for the heads up Thunder!

A user on Anandtech reported the $149 one as working flawlessly in an m6805. That is a good sign. I look forward to hearing how it works in yours.

off topic..............question to thunder pc

i noticed you have the 7200 hard drive, in real life how much difference you feel? when you have application using your hard drive for more than 15 seconds and during tha time you tried to open another appllication how much difference you feel between the old and new hard drive?
and previously i am sure you had some exp when getting annoyed that your hard drive is lagging in sometimes, after upgrading did you feel improvment? or still some points show the same problem? what is it?

The best way I can think of to describe it, is it feels like I went from a celeron 2GHz to an A64 3200+ . In all seriousness, it made a huge difference in the feel of the machine. Windows loads a TON faster, apps load a TON faster, and my gameplay (EQ is pretty much all I play) has become much more enjoyable. All the points in my of "lag" day to day usage I had hoped were just the slow hard drive, were indeed the slow hard drive. I would say do this upgrade first above and beyond any other upgrade, but now after finding a 1GB stick for less than $150, that may be the best first upgrade. That is, of course, unless you are doing a lot of "disk heavy" work on your machine.

thanks man, i will keep your comments in my mind

unfortunately i am short in money for the time being, and the ram price @ 149 is attractive, but again, it is kinda generic ram and the one year warranty means something, also i doubt i am limited in ram, i do more hard disk stuff, in another hand, i am seagate for their new 7200 notebook drives which i hope the priceof the current drives will go down specially if seagate's performs better or on par.

its hard decision on you are short in money, damn

I do have one more question on the 7200 RPM drive. Does it reduce the battery life noticably? Otherwise, I might upgrade that in my M6810 when I get it.

I have noticed 0 difference in battery. Of course my battery life isnot consistent because I let my processor step up most of the time when on battery instead of staying locked at one speed. Check the manufacturer specs on the two drives to see what the power consumption is. That should give you a general idea.

According to the data provided by ZipZoomFly, the difference is less than a full watt at the most. I guess I could sacrifice that.

So has anyone gotten this and tried it? Mecdave? Ooops, sorry I see you arent getting it until Wednesday. Let us know how it works!

Who's gonna order a poor man one?
I ordered two 1GB sticks via the link provided by Thunder_PC.

Just finished installing both of them into my m6809. WinXP Pro properly reports 2GB.

The laptop is currently running Prime95 using the Torture test "blend" option.

Thanks again for the link Thunder_PC!

No thank you for posting your results! DO you by chance do any overclocking? I am curious as to how this memory handles higher clock speeds.
When I get around to it I will be overclocking the m6809 once I'm sure of the stablity of the new mem sticks.

Of course any knowledge I acquire from my experiments will be posted.

FWIW here are the upgrades I've done to the m6809:

Flashed Liteon SDW-431S DVD+/-RW to RPC-1
Installed 60GB Hitachi 7200RPM Part#08K0939
Flashed BIOS to Arima 0F07.P00 / 05-20-04
Installed TWO Premium 1GB DDR PC2700 128x64 200Pin from Outpost.com Part#4158153

Currently I am running WinXP Pro SP2.
I'll most likely install WinXP 64 v1218 in the next couple of days just it try for a bit.

EDIT: Fixed typos

Turns out I waited too long!! ARGGHHH. Currently outpost.com is out of stock of the 1GB RAM... I spoke to a customer service guy and he told me 1-2 weeks before they get more in. Oh well, I guess I will live in envy of you guys with your 1.25 GB goodness....
