Cheap 1GB - Page 8

That's the reason yours works. You have one that was designed for the NS BIOS. The ones with the 52.00.01, 0f08.p00, 0f07.p00, 0f05.p00, 0f02.p00, etc have battery meter problems with the NSF03.p00, NSF04.p00, and NS.00.02 BIOSes.

Do any of you folks know what exactly they changed on the motherboard?

Problems with the M6811 and the 1GB stick? I was about ready to order it too
post #144 of 179
I got my two 1gb sticks today and installed them in my Gateway 7405gx. Just wanted everybody to know they're working great!
Damn, I want this 1 GB stick even more now for my Gateway M505XL. But not sure if it will work on it.
I can confirm I had 1GB outpost ram in the external slot on my m6811 for about 2-3 hours looping memtest and it worked well in windows as well. I will not open it up though because it is going in shortly to get hinges replaced.

same problem with the NS gateway 7405gx ,the corsair stick had the same simptoms like the outpost's one ,i think that it's not the sticks it's just something else.... I called emachines and they offered me a 1GB Samsung pc2700 stick for like 250$ ,so i think that that's my last hope for the 1.25GB+ upgrade. And compman55 congrads on the 2GB upgrade. Happy holidays

omega drivers and bios upgrade

hey guys, just installed a gig of outpost and 7k60 HD, do i need to get omega drivers? i don't know much about them or what to do with them, i also was wondering if i should upgrad my bios, if so, where do i get the upgrade?

thanks in advance for any help
Muki, I am stumped. Do you still have a warranty? Maybe get emachines to replace the board. How long did it take to crap out on you? The outpost ram is tiny BGA style which is actully very high quality.

Also Jimsbond007, you can obtain winphlash and the bios here:
http://www.rmecc.com/~v2/em/index.html.

Use the F08 from the 6811.

thanks a bunch

compman

how much difference do you think 2 gigs of ram makes compared to 1.25, have the same HD as you as well
post #152 of 179
As of today, probably not much. Unless you do loads of multitasking then, you will be fine until next year or so. I like my ram sticks to match so that is why I ordered 2. Plus they are super cheap.
Did tried all the bioses including f08 for M6811 (my boot time increased for like 15sec) ,why do you think the mobo is the problem anyway maybe you'r right. I'll probably do after i test the 1GB samsung . And how many time is needed for outpost to return me the money for the 1GBstick i returned ,30 days from ship day?.
How long did it take for it to act up, right away or a few weeks. I am running them fine in my gateway. The m6811 I have ran for a few hours with no problem with one in the external slot.

Plus I still have not found out what the difference is between the NS motherboards and the regular ones.
Just an FYI I've been running the Transcend 1GB (@ Newegg.com) for over a week now without any conflicts. Passes in MemTest and runs smooth. I had a major problem with Kingmax it conflicted horribly. Just incase anyone out there is looking.

This is the thing : I put the new stick in external slot (outposts ,and corsair) ,and sometimes it boots sometimes not. When it doesnt boot , i just take out the stick and put it again in slot an it works (sometimes i do it a couple of times so that te lapyy boots) ,and you probbaby ask why ,to tell you the truth i dont lnow eather. The old samsung works and boots at all time . Then it get's in windows everything normal 1.25 GB ... Put to play games and stuff works stable for sometime ,play nfsu2 hardcore ,and hl2 too untill it frezzes or restarts (the machine is usually hot ).With the samsung not any problem even if machine is frying. But i doesnt restart always when its hot ,it does it from time to time. And the real question is then ,how can memtest run overnight without any errors ???? .With the corsair 1GB stick same thing even worse (outpost mem has a really good quality) . So this is probbably a mistery of the decade , and i did try every existing bios too. So comp any clue .....

Do you think it could actually be a contact problem that the differnt ram has a thinner PCB?

What stick are you running on the inside?
You might have intermitant memory connector contact problem (?), not bad memory. Try to run your laptop with only internal memory for a while. If it's stable then add the external memory, if it's unstable then try to clean the external ram connector with some "spray can" contact cleaner (radio shack or fry's). That's my guess - good luck.
The internal memory is 256 MB samsung ,and i cant (for now ) void my warranty to get the internal stick ,althoud i think that it would work fine if i put the fry's inside the internal slot alone.Bu the way only with the intrenal memory work fine (same as with both 256 MB samsung in internal and external together). I dont think that the fry's and corsair are thinner ,maybe im wrong ,but others had big success with fry's stick on the emachine M68XX ,and isn corsair "the best memory of 2003" ? .Well i just RMA the corsair and gona see with the samsung's 1GB original from emachines (250 $ same as the corsair was) .Its like the internal stick hates all f...ing stick but only samsung???

Mine worked fine for a few hours. Also the outpost ram is highly compatible with all chipsets. The BGA ram design uses less power than the regular style from what I have read.
