Ok so if the 1GB samsung stick (that im gona order soon) will not work too what do you thihk it's the problem with my lappy dude ,fauly mobo ? Or ill probbably try to put it in the internal slot and see how it will behave. But that's only for emergency ,and for now ill order the 1GB samsung and pray for a miracle.

If ya order it from them, and it does not work, make them replace the motherboard.

O my god the emachines representative said that they dont have 1GB samsung sticks for laptops because he thought that it was for desktop ,and they only have 512 MB samsung sodimms for 150$ . I was so pissed of ,and asked him how the f..k am i gona upgrade to 1GB+ ,he said "Im sorry sir its impossible " . He said that they gona det 1GB sticks soon (who knows when) and the price is probbably gonna be OMG. So yeah Compman ill probbably have to do the mobo replacemnt ,and the hinges together by the way ,and start all over again .... .Just to say that the RMA and shipping fees costed me like 50 $ till now(zipzoomfly's policy of 15% restock fees) and still didnt upgrade nothing.....

What BIOS version are you running?
Emachines pay for all shipping costs. Make sure you call and tell them what you want done. Then make them repeat what they took notes on. When the box arrives call back and give them the case # and verify the notes are still inact and then rest easy and pray.

Emachines is good when the technician knows whats wrong. Outpost ram is still going strong in my 7405. I wish others would hurry up getting outpost ram.

This way we can develop a pattern of what models work and what models have problems.

I was looking at a review of the Voodoo Envy M:860 (another unit sharing the same mobo/design as the 68xx/74xx), and it states that the VIA K8T800 chipset supports PC 3200 ram. Has anyone tried using it instead of PC2100/2700?

The section about the memory is here:

Somewhere buried is a success story of a user with PC3200. That's what I will be getting when I ever get any. You will definately want to make sure you have the latest BIOS, as earlier version were incompatible.

My 7405GX came with the NS.00.02 BIOS (dated Oct. 2004) preinstalled.

You should only get that delay on the first reboot after installing the Gateway BIOS. The delay is caused from the first loading of the boot logo.

I mean i have some delay at the welcome screan ,i didn't had it before , i appeared when i flashed the bios for the firs time the new M6811 and gateway too ,i flashed to the original and i still have the 10-15 sec delay at WELCOME screan.

It says this product is unavailable now. Is there anwhere else to find it? Also would it fit in a Gateway 7422GX's expansion slot without voiding the warranty? Gateway says the notebook is only expandable to 1.5GB. Adding 1GB more would bring it to 2GB total.
First off, the 7422 has (2) slots. One internal and one external. Both slots are filled with 512 x 2. If you upgrade the external to 1GB them that would make 1.5GB.

Just wait until it becomes available.

Ok I understand. I'm actually not getting the notebook until tonight and didn't realize it was two sticks of 512 with one already in the expansion slot. Thanks for clearing that up.

Accordong to some others (posted somewhere in the general section), it will not be available again. Some one called to inquire about it and they were told they would be getting no more in.

That's a shame. What's the next best place to find ram at an affordable price?

Probably newegg for best price/dealer reliability. A good price checking resource is http://www.pricewatch.com . Do some research on companies before just jumping on the lowest priced one though.
