Cheap Laptop for College

I'm looking for a cheap laptop for college. Mostly I will be doing internet and MS Office apps, so integrated video doesn't matter.
Only requirements are integrated wireless, long battery life, and 6 lbs or less. Thanks for any opinions.

Define cheap.

Walmart website. $600, no rebate needed. Cheap enough?

Don't you already have a laptop?

look at the Dell Inspiron 5150, 1150, and 1000 in order of increasing cheapness

Hmmm... your signature lists a Sager, so you don't want to take that to college? I just bought a Compaq R3240. Haven't fully decided if I'm going to keep it - it's fine, just not sure if it meets my work requirements yet. Check out the lower end of the HP Compaq spectrum. Not the lightest, but pretty good value for the money.

I'd say Averatec 3220H but it only gets 2-3 hours.

My 5670 is too big and battery life is about 7 minutes. I want something that is light so I can take it to all my classes. Has to be less than $1500.

So far I've looked at Dell 700m/600m, Sager 3790, ChemBook 2230(Compal AT23)

If you're considering the 3790, I hope you're considering buying with the 12-cell, right?

Yeah, want 4 hours battery life

i think u should just go to random brands and look at laptops with the lowest pentium-m clock speed. that will add battery time, and u could almost garentee 4+ hours on any p-m less than 1.4

No offense, but that is a terrible strategy. The listed Ghz clock speed on P-Ms has nothing to do with battery life - Dothans all get the same battery life - because they clock themselves down to the same speed.

If you are willing to spend $1500, I would go with the CL56 campus edition from Velocity Micro.

If you want a lightweight, the Fujitsu S6210 from laptopsinc looks good.
Is the Fujitsu less than $1.500,01 ?

Ops, sorry. I didn't mean $1.500,01 I mean $1,500.01.

A relapse!! I'm brazilian and, when dealing with numbers, we use . in the place of , (and the opposite too).

Whoops!

I didn't know that, then that's quite alright then.

ibook 12" will cost you a little over a grand after you add airport extreme (wifi b/g) and its a great little computer with long battery life.

with student discount you can get a 12" powerbook for under $1500.
