Line-in connection problem

When I use my line-in connection for playing and recording music, my right speaker sounds great but my left speaker sounds like it's blown (mumbled and weak) but if I play an old mp3 or a game then both speakers sound great. The line-in source is not the problem because I can connect a set of headphones to the source and they sound great. Any ideas on why I'm getting this blown speaker effect just on my left speaker only when I'm using the line-in connection?

Well, I still can't figure out why the left speaker sounds so bad on the line-in connection. I updated the audio driver and that didn't help.
But I did find a way to work around the problem. I'm using the audio connection on the tv tuner card and both speakers sound perfect. The only drawback is that I have to keep that AVerTV program open so that sucks. If I don't have AVerTV open then my recording program can't pick up the sound from the tv card
But if anyone comes up with an idea on why my left speaker sounds like crap when using the line-in connection then let me know.
