5690 vs. 4750 - Page 7

Never heard of it. Is it 3d? Any screenshots? Website?

here is a link to download it. No it's a 2D flash game. It's a pretty small file size, but what an awesome little game! It's one of those that is really hard but fun at the same time. watching the ninja guy die never gets old, the physics are awesome. definitely worth the dl

Cool. Seems pretty old school, but with rag doll physics.

o yeah, once you get to the harder levels it gets really action-packed and 95% of the time you will die lol.

Do you have Doom 3 and Farcry to test out the as5?
I'm gonna install doom tomorrow probably and I can dl the Far Cry demo tonight. I started a thread about this so I'll add my findings to it

i think the 5690 sounds like the best bet. although i will miss the AMD processor and 17 inch screen.. warranty and quality hardware definitely > 17 inch AMD
post #128 of 132
what do you mean warranty and quality? I don't see how the 5690 is of higher quality than the 4750, that a silly assumption.

I've used my old math teacher's 5680 and my friend's 8790. The 8790 was much more impressive to see (the pictures didn't do it justice, looks sleeker in person), and style-wise it had the 5680 beat in spades in my opinion. However, the 5680 was still quite sweet and the UXGA screen was awesome (although the 17" WSXGA was still the best LCD I've seen on a laptop so far). They both seemed pretty solid, although I will say the 5680 just seemed to be a solid rock of a machine.

well, I can say that my 4750 is very solid. no one should base their decision between 4750/5690/8790 on build quality because they are all Sagers and they're all tough.

one more question..

Ok, so i've been reading up on the forums--doing my homework before i make my big investment-- and it seems that i should really wait on the PCI express. But i have a couple more questions. In any way, are video cards upgradable? how much will the PCI express bump the price on the 5690's (or should i say 5700's) and since i dont need my laptop until roughly december, should a 5700 run EQ2 nicely? thanks guys you all have been a great help.

Wait till december if you don't need it immediately. Otherwise I would go with the 4750.
