Processor Price Drops

I noticed that the prices of the processors for the 51m have dropped. My 51m is still in phase 9. If i would have known the price would drop i would have gotten the 3.4Ghz p4 instead of the 3.0. YOu guys think i can still make the upgrade? Thanks!

it's cool...i'm gonna call monday...I don't want the refund...i want to upgrade to the 3.4Ghz processor. I just hope it's not too late...they said it would ship monday or tuesday...i know i'll wait another week or so...but i think the faster processor is worth it.

It's worth a try. I know when mines was in phase 9, they were still able to upgrade the screen from the 15.4'' to the 16''.

Well i called Alienware this morning and asked if it was too late for me to get the 3.4Ghz processor. He said it was possible to upgrade it but my lappy is more than likly going to ship tomorrow. And upgrading now would put my lappy on backorder, so i'd have to wait two weeks before it could be worked on...so i would guess another month before i got it...so i'm passing on the upgrade for now. Later down the road i'll upgrade the processor myself.

THen later on in the day after i read that some of you guys prefer the messenger bag over the backpack...so i called to see if i could get that switched....different guy told me that'd back order my laptop. So he suggested i cancel the backpack order, and then just make a seperate order for the messenger bag...but still deleting the backpack order would cause my laptop to be delayed for another 2 days. And i'm tired of waiting...i've waited long enough...and i want this little SOB...Anyway guys...thanks for your help again! This place rocks! Metal Horns all around!

I understand...but i'm pretty anxious...i've been saving for this thing for 2 years and been waiting about 3 weeks for it. They told me when i ordered it that it would ship in the 7 days after they got my payment since i had no limited items...two weeks later i just entered phase 12....so it should ship tomorrow...or so i was told today.

You read it wrong...I've been saving money to buy the thing for two years...i've been waiting about 3 weeks for it now...i'm anxious! Plus he the CS rep told me that my laptop would go into back order for 2 weeks...then it'd go back into production...so theres another 3 weeks or so...so i'm looking about about another month before i'd get the freakin' thing. And i really want it for when i go to my friends wedding in georgia so i can rub his face in it! But still....i know it's an extra month...but I can wait for another 6 months to a year so when the prices of the processors are down more I can upgrade it myself to some thing faster than the 3.4Ghz....if the 51m's motherboard will support something that fast.

as long as the socket fits you can upgrade it to anything... even 4ghz if it uses the same socket as the area-51m

I probably wouldn't have waited either.

I did notice that for $150.00 more I could've gotten my system with a 3.2 Ghz, 1GB RAM, and the 9700 if I bought it now.
