Asus Z9

Hey there,
I'm new to this forum and I'm trying to find out some information about Asus Z9 and A2H. I'm in the market for a laptop and these have been recommended to me, but I don't know much about them. I'm in graduate school and this laptop will be used predominantly for homework and research. So, I don't need it souped up for games or anything. (I know - how boring!) I don't have very much to spend either.
I'd appreciate any information y'all may have on Asus computers and these models in particular.

Thanks!

Questions about Asus Z9 and A2H

I know almost nothing about Asus. In fact, until a few days ago I had never heard of them. The main things I'm concerned about are: Do they work well? Are they reliable? Durable? Are they good quality for the money? Like I said, I know nothing about them. This computer will replace my desktop as far as use goes, so I'll be using it everyday. But I don't play hardly any games (unless you count solitaire), and I doubt I'll watch movies on it. It will likely only be used for word processing, internet, and statistical software, like Stata. Overall, I'd say reliability is my main concern. Plus it is going to have to last me awhile, as I doubt I'll be able to afford another one for several years.
I'd appreciate any information y'all have about them!

Thanks!

Is this a good deal for an Asus A2H?

First off, I really appreciate all of your input on this. I'm the first one to admit that I don't know a whole lot about computers and which processor is better than another and so on. So, I wanted to check with y'all and see if this is a good deal on an Asus A2H. Like I said in my earlier postings, it's mostly going to be used for homework and other boring things like that.

Asus makes the M6n, a very popular system here on this board. I just built one, its a nice piece of gear.

Asus makes tons of internals that get used by the big name companies. They just have thier own line of thier own products. All of the Asus laptops I have put together or run myself now, are great. I have not, however, played with the A series.

Getting an Asus at that price seems pretty cool. The specs you cite are pretty thin on video power, and I wouldnt do a laptop without wifi- the b/g cards are only a 30$ add on, tops.

Course you could tell us what you expect of the machine, IE what you wanna use it for...

Eric,
I'd say 95% of the time it will be used for word processing (MS Office) and internet (for school and work). I occasionally use Stata (small program - about 40 mbs) when I do statistical work, but that's really it. I have a wireless network in my house, so I will be using a wireless LAN connection to access the internet. I don't want it to be horribly slow, but it doesn't have to be really fast either. My major concerns are reliability and durability, because I need it to work and I likely won't be able to replace it for a minimum of 4 years.
Thanks for your help! I really appreciate the input. I'm so broke, being a student, that this is a huge purchase for me. For that reason, I want to be sure that I get something that is worth the money.
