Pentium M 2.0GHz Dothan

Don't let the speed fool you, this processor has 2 megabytes of cache and the performance beats all of the old Intel Pentium 4 Mobile Processors. *If you take the processor speed and multiply it by 1.8 you'll get a similar speed equivelant to the desktop Pentium 4 Processors in similar laptop configurations - according to our benchmark tests

So, a 2.0 GHz Dothan is about the same speed as a 3.6GHz P4...Cool
It's not exactly "fact." It's debatable that to get P4 equivs. vs. P-Ms you multiply the P-M by 1.8. General consensus is it's closer to 1.5. But yeah, the 2mb L2 cache on the Dothans do make them considerable performers - better than P4s in some aspects even... that's been a much discussed topic here for a long time...

I seriously doubt this to be correct, but that it costs almost the same as the 3.4GHz P4 EE now that's a fact

Yes, KethalManden. To not be disappointed, I always use the 1.5x factor. Now, that is for granted, right?

I doubt the 2.0 Dothan is the same as the P4 3.6. I would say 3.0 or even, at most, 3.2.

The Ferrari 3200 sucks.

Snorre, you must be getting the shakes, somehow you refrained from plugging the Ferrari in your post.

Yeah, it sucks in human souls with that piece of **** screen.

Take it easy guys, he is just too much excited that the Ferrari already won the title this year, and Schumacher and Barrichello will win the 1st and 2nd places...

Take a look at this:

Depending on which benchmarks and how you look at them. 1.8x is a tad-generous and 1.5x is on the conservative side. Gaming wise, figure 1.5x. I'm a bit suprised that Alienware would put-up those numbers. Especially when they know who makes up their customer base. What they should say is that on average where you mostly do office-type apps and play some games, 1.8x is an approximate estimate...ymmv.

It uses the same screen as most other 15" laptops, CL56 & Travemate 6000 series to name a few. The Acer Ferrari 3200 actually took the top honor in the notebook category and won a best of show award at Computex Taipei 2004.

Snorre, you add no value to this forum whatsoever as all you can do is post 1 sentence replies such as "The Ferrari is AWESOME". Usually to someone who is looking for a lightweight system with long battery life. Good job on being an idiot.
You're right it's absolutely awesome and its also light weight and got a pretty decent battery life too

It takes all kinds of idiots
to run an idiot village,
the ones that rise to power,
& the ones that empower them,
I placed second at the great
Village Idiot debate,
It wasn’t good enough
to become head of state,
but the ones they would
not let in, the ones with
their faces drinking in
the frosty windows
of convention, the
ones in the alleyways
& the creases, the
byways of appearances,
sporting unseen fins,
seethru dimples,
hucked up grins,
curious wrinkles,
not of this world,
the Buddha & the lotus,
on their incoherent tongues,
for when heart is truly open,
the mundane loses
its mundaneness,
the great unassumes
its greatness,
the critical faculty
& the laws of survival,
prove without proof
to be illusory, & all
that lies before us, all
that we daily trample,
becomes transparent,
newly rearranged,
& wondrously ample
as apparent as the face
of Audrey Hepburn
in the celluloid rain,
with the sound & the
beds of our own making
turned down & muted,
having breakfast at Tiffany’s,
on a screen that does not
fade, as we step through
the soft vulnerability,
the wasted in the alley
feasting on the droppings,
beyond the broken screens,
& all the rest of us in between,
trying to make sense of this
glimpse beyond our own idiotness.

Wow, your ability to paste someone else's words strongly resembles your ability to regurgitate the marketing language fed to you by Acer.

as for the multiplier, I did a comparison using a bunch of benchmarks and found the average to be about 1.62

Just out of curiosity...take the gaming benchmarks out and what do you come up with. I've guessed that w/out gaming benchies...the Dothan can get close to 1.8x.

Since you are the Ferrari "pusher"...does it come in widescreen?
I'm no pusher, since I only talk about things I know contrary to a few others here

And to answer your question; No it dosen't, like all high-end notebooks from Acer.
