Hehe... I have stated many times that I think the A64 is the best chip out there... just not the best mobile chip.
Also, the Ferrari is not exactly the best use of an A64 chip in the mobile form factor.
Furthermore, far be it for me to speak on behalf of the others you mentionned, but I believe that most, if not all of them share EXACTLY my view. They prefer AMD to Intel, just not Ferrari to World.

At page 2 I kind of sensed what was coming... I wouldn't post here anymore, at least not to try to discuss... well, you know what. But I need to give merit where merit exists, so...

About the quote, nothing can be more true.

zlatanov: I'm not saying that Pentium M is crap and Athlon64 is heaven either.

I'm just saying that I'll take better price/performance over slightly better battery life any day. That's not all, also a faster bus, memory, graphics, hd, as well as NX-bit & 64-bit support adds to my list of advantages for the Athlon64. I see Pentium M/Centrino as an outdated & overpriced alternative, but probably the best Intel can deliver for the time being. I only want the very best and I don't like paying a premium for what I regard as yesterday's technology that's it

now there's a guy that knows his stuff, heh. my last three desktop CPUs were made by AMD, as well as my last two notebook CPUs. my next notebook cpu will be a P-M, however, it's developed into an excellent proc. (duh)

I am hardly an Intel fanboy. All of my desktop systems are based on AMD processors. However, I am not so narrowminded as to ignore the benefits of the P-M for certain people. I believe some who have known me under this username and my prior one know that I also extol the virtues for the AMD64 mobile processor when it FITS the poster's needs.

If we are going to have a flame war please do it in the off topic section. Let us all just stick to stating the facts about the topic on hand. If we can't all play nice, then we won't play at all.

This was not an AMD v. Intel debate. The purpose of the argument was trying to get you to realize that the Ferrari 3200 is not for everyone. It's obvious you're unwilling to accept that fact.
As for being an Intel fanboi, you're completely wrong. I needed good battery life and dothan was able to offer me that.
The next desktop that I'm building is actually going to use the amd athlon64.
So you were wrong again.
This is get so boring that I'm beginning to fall asleep. I snorre when I sleep

You guys gotta quit quoting him, I can still read those.

Fanboy? I have to agree that the A64 is the best gaming chip for the desktop. I'm actually gonna build a monster A64 machine when PCIE and DDR2 get settled in a little. I'd also like to see what happens with SLI video cards. Anyone need some slightly used Intel Components?

He's calling you guys fanboys, when all his posts are about the "godlike" ferrari 3200.

Yeah, it is true that Dothan performance is often given in P4 terms via this multiplier although I like being a bit more cautious that's why I ususally use 1.6 rather than 1.8. From benchmarks I have seen a 2.0 Dothan would be equal to 3.0-3.2P4HT but this is not in multitasking where the HT of P4 helps it outperform the Dothan, but I doubt it is by much. In return, however, no P4 can come even close to the long battery life and cool running temps that are the hallmark of Centrino/Dothan technology.
All in all, Dothan is the most versatile cpu out there and this comes out of the mouth of an AMD fan.
Yea..what zlatanov said...From what I've seen, heard read, tasted and smelled... the Dothan is probably the best all-around CPU (when you factor in mobility/battery life) available. It's the master of none, jack of all trades.

WHERE IS THIS THREAD GOING TO??? from Dothan, to the Acer Ferrari to Intel Fanboys. This all could have been resolved in the first page but now it has grown into an out FLAME WAR . So Snorre loves his Acer Ferrari, and good for him, He wants to brag, more power to him and if you hate him so much then just report him to a modderator.

Or add him to your ingore list. That works well also.

Dothan Rules!!

The dothan doesn't seem to as good of performance as the p4 in audio visual work. The ferrari is a very good computer. If it had a widescreen its possible I would have one of those. I'm interested in how well the sonoma chips will perform.
